Just like a Museum

Updated on October 25, 2012

Ever visit someone's house and virtually everything was not to be touched or sat on? I certainly have many times. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind when I am invited to their home, but I just can't help but feel a little bit of uncomfortableness in the sense that I have no idea what to do with myself.

Folks with homes like this have a vast assortment of nik naks they have been collecting for many years. They also have collected a large amount of fancy looking items they use to decorate their home though out making it look so nice and elegant. Some homes I have been to, they even vacuum the carpet a certain way so that you see no vacuum tracks and no one was allowed to walk on the carpet because they did not want footprints visible on the carpet. A good portion of these homes usually have a designated sitting area where you are allowed to sit on the furniture, and yes even the carpet if the room is carpeted. Which then leaves the rest of the furniture usually not for sitting except maybe the dining area.

Some homes have a carpeted dinning area. Why would you have a carpeted dinning area? It's like eating while you're in the bathroom, you just don't do it. So as if being in the nice homes that sorta have a museum feel to it, so quiet you can hear the clock ticking, look but don't touch atmosphere, wasn't enough now I'm nervous because It's dinner time. Now I'm not a sloppy eater and don't need an adult sized bib. However, with a room full of beautiful carpet that looks as though it was purchased yesterday, under the table I am asked to eat at and a meal that is served with a beverage that if any little bit or both was to spill or drop on to the carpet not even Martha Stewart could tackle the stain.

But with all the awkwardness aside, I do enjoy taking my time to look at all the neat things they have collected and chosen to display in their nice elegant homes. It really is like a museum in a sense because there is so much to look at and these homes seem to have different items you just don't see in other homes. Making these homes very interesting and unique.
