Kitchen Faucet Choices Reviews

Updated on June 8, 2020

The world offers so much more today than ever before. This is especially true for of all things - the simple kitchen faucet. Or at least for what you thought was once a simple kitchen faucet. Yes, they now have single handle faucets and pull out sprayers verses the olden days of the separate sprayer and the separate hot and cold handles. Did you know they now have faucets with touch pads!? Yes! Amazing the technology. If you are like me and have no desire for a "smart" kitchen faucet, check out the ingenious and artistic designs. These faucets mimic nature more beautifully than nature herself and yet are fully functional. Not interested in technology and beauty, then check out the faucets for strength. Carbon fiber faucets are now available in the marketplace.

American Choices biggest concern when searching for a kitchen faucet is quite frankly none of the items we discussed. American Choices is concern about the jobs that maintained or created here in America. The good news is there are a number of options - both foreign and domestic. The domestic faucets can be frugal or expensive. Two of the largest global faucet manufacturers reside in my home states - Illinois and Wisconsin. Elkay is headquartered out of Oakbrook, Illinois with significant operations in my family's hometown of Savanna, Illinois. Elkay's luxury brand is called Phylich which is pronounced "feel rich". Kohler is of course headquartered out of Kohler, Wisconsin. Rohl is centered around Irvine, California and Texas with some outsourcing from Europe and New Zealnd.

Journey with us as we explore a number of great kitchen faucets.

Remember the one tool that is used the most besides the refrigerator is the faucet. It is critical for food preparation and cleansing and sanitizing. For those who don't know, cleaning is not the same as sanitizing.

Faucet Tap Spigot - What Is It?

Here in the United States, we call the "water tap" a "faucet". It can also be commonly called simply a "tap" or a "spigot". Essentially it is a valve that releases water - most commonly household water. In the United States, tap often is used to mean a "beer tap" or as a verb for a cut in connection rather than a water tap.

Ceramic Disc Faucets

Ceramic disc faucets are almost maintenance free. They don't wear out because they are not plastic and are harder to scratch. The good news is IF they do wear and they do start to drip, the replacement is under $25. Ceramic valves are more durable over the long run in a broader variety of water conditions than any other variety of valve on the market. Remember water can be hard, can have some sentiment in it especially if you do not have a whole house filter.

Elkay

Elkay was the original inventor of the "bubbler" or drinking fountain as we know it today. Perhaps most important to the history of water, Elkay was the first to develop the filter that removes lead from our drinking water. Elkay continues to be an innovator in its field and launched its innovated drinking fountain called EZH20 that fills bottles faster and easier with a modification on their drinking fountains. That is right - no need to replace, just add to. With Elkay you are sanitizing your water with UV at point of use - clean, filtered water that is lead free and now it sanitizing with light via UV.

All of these faucets are a delight, visually and functionally. Once you have made a fully informed choice, your next stop I know will be the counter tops. Try thinking out of the box and do consider glass over granite. Glass has some amazing designs and colors and has proven to be very durable. Add in a LED light under the glass and now even your counter top is multitasking.
