Laundry Can Make You Happy
Laundry- Everybody has it, no one likes it.
Whether you take your clothes to a laundromat, use a laundry service, or do it yourself at home, laundry has a sneaky way of piling up and creating huge, unorganized messes in our house.
I previously shared with you my number one way of dealing with the laundry mess here.
I want to share my tip for making laundry enjoyable:
Use high quality laundry detergent with a smell you enjoy.
It sounds like such a simple concept but it has made such a HUGE difference in my laundry routine!
I am a penny-pincher. I usually don’t purchase name brand household products because they are sometimes three times the price of the generic or store brand. I purchased my laundry detergent and supplies the same way. I used to buy the cheapest detergent I could find- sometimes even buying it at the dollar store!
The Big Switch
Once I switched over to using name-brand laundry detergent everything changed. I noticed a BIG difference in how clean my clothes were getting. My five year old’s shirts were finally starting to lose some of the deep set stains they accumulated. My whites looked fresher and brighter and colors seemed to bleed less.
I was also using LESS product! So even though I was paying a few more dollars up front, over the long run my detergent bottle was staying full much longer.
The biggest difference I noticed was the smell. Higher end products have more scent added to them and for me- that’s a BONUS! I LOVE how my clothes smell when I put them on in the morning! I often choose detergents base on their scent and so many brands are expanding their scent options.

Change your relationship with laundry
Changing my detergent has changed my relationship with laundry. I don’t want to say I enjoy doing it- but I dread it less than I did before I switched.
I firmly believe in doing the little things in life that make us happy. This is one of those small adjustments I could make that ended up making a huge difference in my overall happiness. Who knew that such a simple change could make such a huge daily impact?
