Make Sure That You Keep These Things in Mind before Buying Home Theaters

Updated on May 28, 2012

Do you want to set up a home theater in your house to have the movie hall effect at home only? Nowadays many people are choosing this option over going to theaters and watching a movie. Setting up a home theater system will not only be used for watching movies; you can use the set up for some really high-tech gaming experience. With the super picture quality and the effects of digital surrounding sound, your movie and gaming experience will reach new levels. It is quite obvious that these home theater systems are quite expensive. Therefore it is very important that you take this decision after considering few very important things. Some of them are as follows:

· You must have a proper room for setting up the home theater system. Setting the system in any place will not let you enjoy the effects of the same. It is best if a room is selected which is only for the home theater set up. That can be the entertainment room for the family. If you are going for a large screen of say 40 inches or more, make sure that you watch the screen from at least a distance of 10-12 feet. Therefore it is very important that you buy the theater system depending on the size of the room where it will be set.

· The effects of home theater system remain incomplete with proper sound. Therefore it is very important that the right sound system is installed. Good speakers have to be bought and installed. A minimum of 5.1 Dolby should be there for that effect. For enhanced effects you can install additional bass shakers so that you have more booming sound. Place the speakers at a place and at an angle that you get the best sound effects.

· The screen or the display of the home theaters is another thing that should be considered wisely. The most common displays that are available now are in the form of LCD screens or Plasma screens. Both of them provide images of high clarity and precision. In case budget is a constraint and you cannot afford Plasma or a LCD screen, go for rear projection displays or DLP. The facility of Plasma and LCD screens is that the images can be seen clearly from all the angles and sides. However, this is not possible in case of rear projection displays or DLP.

· Today there are many companies that manufacture high-tech home theater systems for various kinds of customers. While some customers prefer to buy branded products on the higher range; some prefer to go a little down on the budget. It might happen that globally renowned home theaters are not available in that range. It is quite natural that the features and the settings of the two systems will also be different in a great manner.

Keep all these points in mind and buy the home theater that has almost all the standard features and fits well within your budget as well.

You list some good points. The distance between the TV and viewing seats is an important one to get the 'home theater' effect. Of course good speakers are a must!

      Voted up and useful.
