Must Have Appliances for a College Apartment Kitchen

If you are in college you might not have too much time for cooking. Between classes and working you made not have the time for a homemade, gourmet meal; however, having a few simple appliance can make your life a lot easier and help you on your way to preparing some great meals. Below are a few appliances that you should have in your kitchen that will make cooking a lot easier.

Microwave

Microwaves are an essential product in a college students kitchen. They can be used to heat up leftovers and quick microwave meals. Also if you are cooking a full meal a microwave can prove a handy tool for defrosting meat or melting ingredients.

Rice cooker

A rice cooker is a great appliance for anyone to have. Rice can be a great staple to many meals and make expensive ingredients stretch further so you don't break the bank trying to stay full. Rice cookers make cooking rice as simple as adding rice and water then pushing a button, no stirring or checking the pot required. Aside from cooking rice, a rice cooker can also be used to steam vegetables.

Coffee Maker

A Coffee Maker is a must have for any college student's apartment. Aside from being a cheap beverage for a cold day, coffee is also very useful for staying up all night to study or aiding in waking you up after a late night of partying. If you live alone a small coffee pot should fit all your needs, however if you have roommates or frequently have guests you my want to get a full sized coffee maker.

CrockPot/ Slow Cooker

A Crock-pot may remind you of meals your parents made and you may not think you could ever make a meal like that however using a slow cooker is much easier than it may seem. Slow cookers are they perfect way to cook delicious meals if you are constantly on the go, you can simply throw a few ingredients in, turn your slow cooker on and come home 8 hours later to a delicious meal.
