Cloud mural or statement art

For those who believe in going big or going home, a cloud mural or large wall hanging is a great way to make a bold statement. You can paint right on the walls or the ceiling or you can purchase a piece of cloth or canvas art that you can hang as you please. If you're crafty, think about painting the clouds yourself. Grab some tips from The Rustic Willow or watch a video by Morgan Bricca (see right). Get further inspiration for creating or purchasing your own cloud mural or statement art at Apartment Therapy and Pixer Size.

Framed ferns

Framed ferns can serve as smaller complement to a cloud mural or other sizable art statement while still carrying on the natural theme. Gathering, flattening, and framing your own ferns is simple, quick, and inexpensive. Grab the tutorial at Centsational Girl. If ferns aren't readily available in your area or you'd rather hang prints, fern prints are another great option. You'll find framed and unframed (mostly unframed) prints in varying sizes on Etsy, eBay, and carries new prints while Etsy and eBay offer a mix of new and vintage prints.

Mason jars are also readily available on Amazon.

Candles in mason jars with sand or pebbles

Candles are one of the simplest ways to add a personal touch and a bit of romance to a bedroom. Select clear mason jars or other clear vessels and then fill them with sand or pebbles to portray a natural aesthetic. Mason jars come in varying sizes and are available at any big box store, big box craft store, or kitchen supply store. Many people opt to display multiple jars, but don't feel limited to this option. Choose a candle scent that is pleasing to you that will fragrance the room without overwhelming anyone.

Recycled colored jar display

If you don't want to use mason jars or other recycled glass as candle holders or are looking for additional ways to display mason jars in your bedroom, think about putting together a recycled colored jar display. You can use these jars on their own, use them as planters, or fill them with seashells or other items of your choosing. Look for recycled bottles in varying colors or dye clear bottles. Grab a dyeing tutorial from Start Believing in Forever.

Wood headboard

DIY headboards are all the rage these days, and wood headboards are no exception. Many people opt to use pallet boards, old fence posts, and other repurposed wood to give their headboards a rustic look. It's up to you whether you'd like a new or vintage aesthetic. Both will give your bedroom the natural feel that you desire. Think about which option will fit better with the rest of your bedroom decor.

Driftwood mirror or garland

Driftwood is free and allows you to add natural detail to a plain purchased mirror or to create a simple garland in a matter of minutes. You can collect driftwood at any local beach. Alisa Burke has tutorials for a driftwood garland (see right) and a driftwood mirror. You can find many tutorials for both of these projects, but as always, Alisa has an inspired touch that you won't find anywhere else. Are you looking for more driftwood ideas for your nature themed bedroom? Search her blog for additional DIY driftwood tutorials.

Seashell / snail shell planters

Seashells and snail shells make ideal planters for succulents, air plants, and other small plants that thrive well indoors. Keep in mind that the plant that you choose will dictate the care that it requires. Displaying two different kinds of plants in matching seashells doesn't mean that they need the same type of care. Etsy is a great place to find natural and ceramic shell planters.

Do you collect seashells but don't want to use them as planters? Fill a clear vase or bowl with seashells and display it on a bookshelf, nightstand, or dresser.

Wicker basket storage

Do you need more storage in your bedroom? Wicker baskets are inexpensive and versatile. You can keep your sleeping area clutter free without distracting from the natural aesthetic that you've worked so hard to create. As wicker baskets come in all sizes and shapes, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding pieces that will fit your bedroom space and storage needs.

Dream catcher mobile

A dream catcher adds a whimsical touch to any bedroom. There are lots of tutorials out there for dream catchers, but a dream catcher mobile is a truly unique natural piece. The only materials that you need are a metal gold ring, ribbon, fishing rod, feathers, gold paint, and a thumb pin. With the exception of the fishing rod, you can get your supplies at a big box craft store. Learn how to make your own dream catcher over at Betty's Portfolio & Art Blog.

Green rug

There are endless options for color palettes that can create a natural aesthetic in a bedroom. Among the many popular color schemes, white and green are prominent colors. White provides a gentle, calming tone while green accentuates the earthy feel of the room. Opt for white linens and other elements that are easy to wash and select green for the carpeting or a throw rug. If you have a lighter color palette, look for a sea green or mint shade. If you're creating a room with lots of earth tones, choose a medium or dark shade.
