At Home: Organizing

Updated on April 27, 2012

I have the urge to clean out my closets and every nook in the house. Why is this? Okay. I know it's because, I, like a lot of you feel that we're at the threshold of a new begining. It doesn't matter what day we start either. If we have the motivation we should run with it, right? No matter when. Let's not get hung up on that.

Actually, I've already started on my closets. The only thing I have to do now is to separate the sizes, of which I have many. Once I do that, and keep only the clothes that fit in my closet, I'll feel better. I feel much of this "fresh start" stuff has a lot to do with the fact that I'm only going to get busier with the things I'm attempting.

Now that I've got the holiday decorations down I've been able to rearrange my family room. It's neat and organized, and it looks like a whole new room. Speaking of room, there's plenty now. This is especially important when you spend more time indoors during the long winter.

Organizing though, isn't just for cubby holes and the like, it's also storing much of your clutter on your computer. You can start with photos. That's what I'm doing now. I want to get them all on there so I can post them any time I want to. I'ts about updating all those profiles, and filling out your Excel spreadsheet and keeping it up to date. It's about getting the game posts off your social media page.. One way to do this is to start a new email address and social media account, and transfer all of the things that don't pertain to work to the new page. My niece asked me why my cat requested her friendship, and I told her I need to keep my page open for anything related to writing, voice overs, fashion, or acting.

Also, now is a good time to clear out old phones and answering machines. If you didn't get your contacts programmed into your new smart phone, it's a good time to do that too.

Clearing the decks so to speak, makes you feel good. At least it makes me feel good. When I look around at the things I accomplish I feel like I'm getting things done. I need to see this on a daily basis. I must move forward. It's the only way to go.
