History of Oreck Vacuum Cleaners

Originally designed for the hotel industry, David Oreck made his vacuum cleaners available to homeowners and soon became a household name.

Before buying you should read some Oreck vacuum reviews that might help determine which one is best suited for you.

Oreck offers several different styles including the classic upright, canister and ever popular hand held vacuum cleaners, all designed for their specific tasks.

Mr. Oreck's focus was on designing a lightweight vacuum that had a commercial grade cleaning power. He also wanted them to be easy to maneuver for everyone regardless of age.

So regardless of what type of flooring you need to clean, carpet, laminate, tile or hardwood floors, Oreck vacuum has one for you.

Which Upright Oreck Vacuum is the Most Popular?

Most would assume the Oreck XL Classic is the most popular since it is probably the most well known. To be honest, even though its best feature is that fact it only weighs eight pounds.

It may have been the most popular in the beginning but it is clearly not the best value. It lacks important features the many homeowners are looking for. It is not a bad vacuum, it still has good suction power but is rated average on most everything else like the filtration system, power cord length, and the not so ergonomic handle.

It also is pretty loud as vacuum cleaners go and there is no light making it difficult to see down hallways and in corners. Oreck is still a quality vacuum and way above so many other brands but there are other Oreck designs that are a "better bang for your buck."

What is the Best Oreck Vacuum for Hardwood Floors?

If you are looking for the best Oreck vacuum for hardwood floors, the Oreck XL Deluxe is an excellent choice. It is still a little loud as far as vacuum cleaners go but is great for allergy sufferers and also lightweight, weighing in at only eight pounds.

This model features a better filtration system with its multi-layer bags to help reduce allergens and dust. It has has a headlight, more ergonomic handle and a longer power cord making it a great value over the Oreck XL Classic and its great for both carpet and hardwood floors.

Now if you are looking for more options on color and larger bag capacity, you may want to consider the Oreck XL Ultra. This vacuum features two speeds, excellent filtration system, an eight year warranty and eight annual tune-ups, more than double that of the earlier models.

What is the Best Performing Oreck Vacuum Cleaner?

The best value for your money as well as the best performing Oreck vacuum would have to be the Oreck XL21 vacuum cleaner. Sow what does the "21" stand for? Are you ready?...

You get an unbelievable 21 year warranty and 21 free annual tune-ups with the purchase of this Oreck vacuum. It features the popular HEPA filter technology that has a lifetime guarantee on their HEPA filter. This model also automatically adjusts itself from bare floors to carpet, something we can all appreciate.

This model is so much quieter than the previous models, has an ergonomically designed handle and still only weighs 11 pounds. Pretty impressive even for a vacuum, and although at first glance you may think it is a little expensive, remember you usually get what you pay for.

So concluding the Oreck vacuum reviews, the Oreck XL21 is the top pick. Not just me but it also made the Consumer Reports Top 10 list for vacuum cleaners. Click Here to get the best prices on Oreck Vacuum Cleaners.

      Thanks Becky,

I am due for a new vacuum but am torn between the Oreck and the Dyson, both are great machines and excellent quality, sure to last a long time.

I would love to have a Oreck XL21 vacuum cleaner. I just bought a new vacuum cleaner and am not pleased with it at all. Wish I knew about this Oreck before I made the purchase. since I get a new vacuum cleaner every year, maybe I can get one of these next year.

Thanks Darski! Now if I could just find someone to operate the vacuum, I would have it figured out! Hope you are feeling better, thanks as always you are so kind...
