Organized Home - Pantry and Cupboard Storage Solution
I was looking at the spice storage racks at my local DIYish store the other day, and none NONE none of them fit my little tiny cupboard where I like to keep my spices. I had to get creating, so I came up with this:
It really freed up so much space, that I thought I'd try something similar in the pantry.
Find a lightweight box of the desired size. Or if you need to, cut it down to the desired size. This oatmeal box has been hanging around in my pantry for quite a while. Whenever I buy oatmeal packets, I just throw them in there. I've decided to recycle my box into a tea bag holder.
Choose some cute scrapbook paper or wrapping paper. I used giftwrap from CVS (that I got for free!). Wrap it and tape it into place. I like to use packaging tape because it is durable. Wrap it up the front and across the bottom of the box, snipping into the corners to lessen wrinkles (see photo).
Tape securely and then finish off the sides like wrapping a gift. I made a mistake and wrapped the back of this one. I believe this is going to cause it to be less stable, so learn from my mistake and don't cover the side that you are going to adhere to the cabinet door.
I like to label things, so I just wrote on the back of a scrap what was going to be in my storage box.
Secure the label to the box with packing tape or clear contact paper to make it a little more durable.
I adhere mine to the inner cabinet doors with UGlu. This stuff is great. It has the "strength of super glue with the convenience of tape!" I like it because it forms an instant bond on ANY surface, is waterproof, and removes like rubber cement, leaving no residue or mess. I have been a huge fan of 3M Command products, but UGlu has totally stolen me away! I cut one UGlu strip in half to adhere my box to my cabinet. You need to feel out how much you will need according to what you will be storing.
And there you have it! A convenient place to store my beverage items inside my pantry. They are so narrow, that they (just like my spice "rack") just take up the buffer room the cabinets. No special allowances need to be made for the items on the shelves. I would try to watch for the shelves, but if using UGlu, they can be moved if necessary.
