It is hard to say that any flower is really my very favorite flower, as I love so many flowers. I can say that in particular, I very much enjoy orchids as much or more than any other flowers, the more I learn about them. Enjoying nature is so important, as is enjoying the beauty in it. With orchids, this is no problem for me to do. They bring me true joy and a sense of peace, calm and beauty. I cannot pinpoint why this is exactly, but it is true all the same. Perhaps it is their elegance, or the fact that they can be hard to grow. Regardless, I love them and enjoy them very much.

This hub is dedicated to some some purple orchids that I had the pleasure of seeing and taking pictures of. I hope you might like them as I do.

Photo 1 - Before I realized the full range of different orchids out there, this is the kind of orchid that would come to mind if I heard about or was talking about orchids. The shape is one that I am more familiar with. Now I know there are so many other varieties out there, this is just one of many. I love the white and purple on the outer edges of the bigger petals here. The middle is amazing to me.

Photos 2 and 3 - These two sets of orchids are each in a "bouquet" or "spray" form and similar to the one in photo 1. Photo 2 has more of a spotted design, while the one in photo 3 seems to have a more uniform color, and is kind of just a sweet looking orchid. The little dash or orange or marigold color in the centers jumps out as well.

Photo 4 - This set of orchids was so stunning to see, it was hard to capture it in a photograph. I hope you can get a feel for how elegant and beautiful they are, however. There is a lot of white or cream color in this variety, but the purple or lavender gives it some distinction.

Photo 5 - This set of orchids wins in the color category, or almost wins. I simply love the almost periwinkle blue purple color in this orchid. It very much catches my eye personally, and I had to get a picture of it.

Photo 6 - As far as design goes, this one may get the most interesting! It has almost spider like legs, and for those out there that don't like spiders, sorry about that as a description. The delicate nature of the petals is amazing. They are so think in parts, and the little pattern or design on these petals would make almost anyone say wow. Simply stunning orchids. There is nothing quite like them!

Photo 7 - In a different sense, this one is a favorite for the way the light is shining through some of the orchids here. I love the color, spray, and light playing on them. It brings me joy, and with these Winter months we are having currently here, the sunshine in the photo just makes me happy.

**You will have to forgive me if I get a little sappy when describing these lovely flowers. Also, admittedly, I am still learning so much about orchids, and I hope that you don't hesitate to share if you do know more than me! I plan on updating individual names and such. What I am finding out currently, is that there are many many different orchids out there, much more than I ever realized.

Hello Anglnwu, how interesting that the National flower for Singapore is a purple orchid! That is just lovely, and I am not surprised anyone would make it their national flower. Glad you shared what photo you liked best as well. Thank you for stopping by! :)
