No Time To Eat? Take Your Food On The Run!

My old personal sized blender finally broke, and I needed to get a new one quick. I found the Hamilton Beach Single- Serve Blender, and it was just what I was looking for. The best part was I got it for under $20! I am always on the run and I don't always have time to eat a real meal, so I just take my meal with me. And by a meal I mean a smoothie or a shake. There are so many different kinds of healthy smoothies and shakes that you can create, and they are kid friendly as well, especially for fussy kids. And the best part is you don't have to follow a recipe, just make it up as you go.

Lets talk about what makes the Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender a handy dandy little appliance to have.

Features:

** Single 12 oz serving cup

** One touch blending speed ( pulse )

** No gaskets to deal with, the cup is 1 whole unit

** Easy storage, as it is a compact size and has a convenient cord wrap around, so it is easy to store.

** Take your drink and go. It fits in most car drink holders, and that's a nice feature.

** The snap on lid has a slide mouth piece, and the lip is extended so you won't dribble on yourself.

Blending Tips:

** Always hold the blender when in use

** Do not chop or process hard foods such as cheese, meats, nuts or crackers

** If the blending action stops during blending or the ingredients stick to the sides of the jar, turn the blender off. Remove the lid and use a rubber spatula to push the mixture toward the blades.

** Do not process hot foods or liquids in the blender

** Do not store liquids or food in the blender jar

** Avoid dropping the blender

** Add liquids such as milk or juice first, then add yogurts and fruits next. You don't want the fruits getting stuck in the blades.

Cleaning the blender:

Always disconnect the power before cleaning the blender. Don't immerse the cord plug or base into water. Wipe the blender base and cord with a damp cloth.

Important Safeguards:

When using any electrical appliance common sense and basic safety precautions should always be followed.

** Always read all the instructions first.

** Protect yourself against the risk of electrical shock, by not putting the cord or base into water,

** Unplug the cord when not in use, and before removing the jar.

** Avoid contact with the blades or any moveable parts.

** Don't operate if the plug or cord is damaged.

** Don't use outdoors

** Do not let children operate this appliance without being supervised.

Now that we have covered all the basic information about the blender, we can move onto making tasty treats! There are no basic recipes to follow as I mentioned before. Nor is there any specific amount of an ingredient, it is all based on your taste. You can make smoothies and shakes anyway you like them. One of my favorite smoothies is as follows.

Bonny's basic smoothie ingredients:

** milk

** yogurt ( any flavor)

** 1 banana sliced thin

** 1 small hand full of blueberries

** 1 to 2 tablespoons wheatgerm

Start by pouring the milk in the jar, followed by the yogurt, and then add the wheatgerm and the fruits, mix until blended, unplug the blender and remove the jar. You can then just drink it or pour it into a glass, add a straw if you like, and I do love a straw.

Now if you would like to add other fruits, and I do add other fruit combinations, like strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and mandarin oranges, you can even sneak in a veggie, like fresh baby spinach, or even a tablespoon of molasses! Smoothies are such a tasty nutritious treat, and anything goes! The same goes for milkshakes, add fresh fruit to them as well, maybe a touch of yogurt even. Imagination is everything.

So if you don't always have time to eat, as I often have this problem, just take your drink and go, and just sip on it, and enjoy a fresh and healthy treat, which is made with fresh fruit and dairy products. And it will give you energy that you need to get through the day. And don't forget it is kid friendly, and a good way for them to have something nutritious ! And the possibilities are endless! So with all that said ! Enjoy making something good to drink.

I have to say I am loving the Hamilton Beach blender. It is awesome! It runs smooth and quite, and there is no cleanup, except the jar when you are done with it.

Note: As of to Date I have had this same Blender for 3 years now and it is still going strong, and I use it everyday!
