The vast collection of Riedel wine glasses is considered to be the world's finest collection with regards to choosing the correct wine glass for the various types of wine. The interactive guide to Riedel wine glasses on Riedel's website will help you understand their scientific approach to distinguishing which glass works for each type of wine, so you can select the perfect set of  Riedel wine glasses.

For more than three centuries the Riedel family has been in the glass making business. Their Austrian dynasty is comprised of master glassmakers that have accomplished more to enhance the pleasure of wine drinking than any other glass company in the world.

Over 300 Years Of Tradition Goes Into Every Set Of Riedel Wine Glasses

Professor Claus J. Riedel was the first to lay the groundwork for stemware by recognizing that the taste, bouquet and balance of wine was affected by the shape of the glass from which it was drunk. More than four decades ago, he began his revolutionary work to create stemware that would complement and enhance the different types of wine.

Riedel started to create glasses which, in the late 1950's, were a design phenomona. Thin, hand blown, simple designs. Riedel's work with experienced tasters led him to discover that wine sipped from his glasses displayed more depth and ameliorated balance than when served in other glasses. It was his work that laid the foundation for stemware that was beautiful, yet functional.

The Sommelier collection of Riedel wine glasses is hand blown and quite expensive, but drinking from one of these slender, crystal glasses is akin to drinking wine from a delicate flower. Intended to improve the qualities of each type of wine, the assortment of Riedel wine glasses have become the most famous and widely known glasses for wine lovers, producers and drinkers around the world.

Whether an experienced enthusiast or novice wine drinker, Riedel wine glasses definitley showcase the individuality of each type of wine. The well balanced, light glasses are designed to enhances the richness and complexity of vintage wines. New World wines from California, New Zealand and Australia require diamond shaped bowls that allow greater evaporation to develop their wonderful flavor.

The classic Riedel wine glasses are still the world's standard.

Your Riedel Wine Glasses Will Provide Years Of Pleasure

Riedel wine glasses are also largely popular for their stemless glassware. A stemless wine glass exactly as it sounds; a wine glass without a stem. Stemless glasses are also available in an array of shapes and sizes suitable for white or red wines.

One benefit of stemless Riedel wine glasses is that they are not as easy to knock over when filled with wine. Even if you do manage to knock the glass over, it likely will not break.

Another benefit is that stemless glassware fits into kitchen cupboards and dishwashers rather easily. This makes cleaning and storing them a breeze. Although I recommend washing your fine Riedel wine glasses in hot water only as soap can build up inside the glass and affect the flavour of your wine.

This was a really fun read. I enjoy wine . . . usually one of the least expensive types from Trader Joes and we don't have any wine glasses. I never thought about a particular brand. Although, I am aware of Lennox since I'm originally from PA. I currently use what looks like small jelly jars for my wine!
