Rustic Items for Your Home

Updated on June 2, 2016

Background

Learning to use all our tools, my father showed me his skills in designing and building from an architect's point of view. Precision and detail were the most important concepts he taught me, apart from the safety of running the table saw! Growing up with such a mentor, I learned a love for wood crafting and designing. With an abundance of tools, supplies, and direction I am now able to take what I've learned and create my own style. With crafts from beginning to end, or simply repurposing, I want to sell items that others desire and appreciate in their homes. Sharing my rustic style is not only important but a lot of fun!

This was my second attempt at creating a mounted bottle opener. I had the idea while I was at a party using a friend's cast iron opener that was screwed right into the wall. I thought "why not collect all those caps and use them for something."

I decided I wanted to make a unique table top with all the bottle caps but needed a way to collect them. Mason jars are all over my apartment so I tied the two together into one... with a rustic touch of course!

I made myself a mason jar and opener mounted on wood to collect all those caps. Then thought of how beautiful it would look stained and finished. I loved it so much and though how much others would too.

Instead of working in a workshop in the garage I have made my own workspace on my tailgate. Plus, ITS MOBILE! I prefer to work in the natural outdoors! and I get to keep an eye on the herd while I'm working. Their support is all I need! Lily (the goat) shown below is my number one fan!

The work comes along and as I find time to create, I'm able to fill my shop. I'm in the midst of building my stock and when it's all ready I'll post it in the shop. Currently, along the lines of rustic creations, I'm exploring my passion of leather-crafting. With my new set up I have projects underway and will soon be putting those items up in my shop.
