Salt or Chlorine Pool?
Should I use Salt or Chlorine for my pool?
As a pool builder, this question comes up a lot. This is my opinion based on experience.
My first pool I built was chlorine. I chose chlorine because it was all I knew. It was fairly easy to take care of, did the job and the pool was always sanitized.
When I moved and was ready to build my second pool, I decided to go Salt. After all, it was popular in the industry. The salt pool reduced the amount of chlorine but still required all the same maintenance. Don't let anyone tell you it's less maintenance.
When we moved again and built our third pool, we went back to Chlorine. It just seemed easier to me; a personal opinion.
Some things to consider;
It works! It's been around forever! Sanitizes Great! No need to add more equipment! Cheaper to repair the equipment!
If you let the chemicals get out of whack, it will burn your eyes and color your hair!
Salt does feel like softer water!
Salt is more expensive (you are adding another piece of equipment to your project that will need maintenance).
You will need to keep your stone sealed as the salt tends to get in every crevice and cause problems.
Don't keep any metal around the pool.
