How to Choose and Use a Shampoo Dispenser

Updated on September 28, 2011

The Shampoo Dispenser: Making Your Life Better

Little things can make a difference in your life. When a basic product actually helps to better organize your life and reduce the work you have to do, it's good. A shampoo dispenser is a good example. They are affordable, long lasting, and provide features that make your morning and cleaning routine easier.

Below you can learn more about how a shampoo dispenser can benefit you and see some of the most popular models from which to choose.

A shampoo dispenser can be handy in many locations.

  • They are ideal in a shower
  • They can be handy near a bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room sink
  • They are also very functional in a garage or workshop
  • They can even serve a useful purpose at a pool or near a garden tool shed
  • They are also handy in commercial applications such as in an office environment, restaurant, or motel

A good shampoo dispenser puts your detergents, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, and so forth right where you need them. Not in a cabinet, on a shelf, or in a drawer. But they do more than that.

  • They decrease clutter
You won't need a half dozen bottles sitting around the shower or cluttering a counter
  • They make cleaning easier
You can wipe them clean with a cloth in a second versus picking up bottles to clean around them
  • They decrease spills
You won't accidentally dump contents when a slippery shampoo or conditioner bottle is dropped
  • They decrease waste
Fewer spills will mean less waste, but these shampoo dispenser units also control how much is released so that you don't end up with too much shampoo in your hand to wash away unused
  • They can help reduce costs associated with shampoos, conditioners, and so forth
Many of us don't opt for the large economy sized, bulk shampoos and conditioners simply because we don't want to cope with the large container every morning. By transferring only what you need into the dispenser chambers, the bulk sized items are more attractive and will save you money.

Buying Tips

Selecting the right shampoo dispenser is easy.

Size, finish, and method of mounting are the most critical factors. The appropriate size will be based upon the number of people using the bath or shower in question and the number of products you hope to put in the dispenser. Clearly, it you want to load up three different shampoos or if you want shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, three compartments are necessary. If three or four people will be using it daily, then a large compartment is needed so that you don't have to refill every few days.

The best finish will be determined based upon your decor and personal preference.

Some of these models mount using a two side tape while others may have a more permanent mount that requires the use of tools. If you rent, if you want the flexibility of moving the shampoo dispenser, or if you have an aversion to tools, a permanent mount would not be desirable. On the otherhand a permanent mount is more secure.

Chrome Shampoo Dispensers

Better Living offers a variety of shampoo dispenser units. They come in a number of finishes including white, satin, and chrome. These units offer push button dispensing of shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and so forth. The pump pre-measures liquids so that you always get the right amount with just a push or two.

Some of these units offer a single chamber, others two, three, or four. Chambers slide out of the base for easy refilling. Most chambers hold from 10 to 14 ounces of your favorite shampoo, conditioner, or soap. At the base of the unit are light weight hooks for keeping items like razors, sponges, and loofas right on hand where you need them.

Mylar coated labels assure contents can easily be identified. These shampoo dispenser units mount easily on nearly any surface from tile and marble to plastic, drywall, and fiberglass. Installation takes minutes and requires no tools. Mounting with silicone and adhesive tape provides a secure and permanent mount every time. They measure 4" deep by 8" tall. Width varies by model.

White Plastic Shampoo Dispensers

The units here are made of durable ABS plastic. Like the models above they have mylar coated labels so that shampoos, soaps, and conditioners can be identified at a glance. For those without a see-through cover there are level indicators so that you know before stepping into the shower, whether or not you need to refill the chamber.

The removable/refillable chambers hold 14 to 15 ounces of liquid which will last for months without having to refill even in showers shared by multiple people. Multiple chamber units can be used to hold shampoos, body washes, conditioners, soaps and so forth. Or they can be used to house a variety of brands/types of shampoos to accommodate the needs of every individual that uses the shower.

The Ulti-Mate shampoo dispenser even includes a top shelf for housing additional soaps and shampoos, a fog resistant mirror for shaving in the shower, and a convenient soap tray as well.

These dispensers mount easily within minutes and require no tools.

I like to vary my shampoo each day among two or three different brands/scents. So the triple holder would be great for me! Want one.

This is wierd that I'm reading this as I have been very frustrated with all the bottles of shampoo and body washes in my shower. I never knew there were dispensers like this. Wow, this would be great. Thanks

Good information. I always liked the idea of a shampoo dispenser, it's really handy if you have limited storage space in the bath/shower. Not so good maybe if you keep switching brands, but it does mean you can buy larger containers, and save money.
