Sunday Morning Cooking To Help Joann

Sunday Morning Cooking To Help Joann

Short poem by stars:

Enjoy it like a man,

with a smile from those who can,

share it with you free,

with very little worry,

that never ask a fee.

I love free food,

and free food loves me,

because sometimes we must ,

get free commodities.

So with dignity,

I'll stand,

on my legs,

as long as I can,

on my walking canes,

to pick up my box,

of potatoes, corn, peas,

and more,

even if I fall ,

on the dog gone floor,

to pick it all up,

to bring it home,

to those I love,

to share it with me,

in our home.

So I' do thank God,

for everyone,

who gives free food.

Because Free Food is so special ,

from very kind hearts,

be very happy to have it,,

to help you to meet ,

your additional needs,

because hunger's not nice,

at any price.

So be happy to enjoy free food,

whenever you can get it.

and be sure to thank,

who gives it.

Because it's so mighty nice,

to have a nice box,

of food,

because so many folks just like us,

have had their shares too,

of hard times and hard knocks,

and all kinds of rough stuff,

that has been quite enough.

Sunday, November 21, 2010, a day made by our God in Heaven:

I wasn't very sleepy so I wound up preparing food for the family while my wife and daughter stayed in bed. I had some uncooked ground pork in the refrigerator, and some 2 Alarm chili in the kitchen cabinet , and a can of chili and spaghetti sauce. I cooked the ground meat, drained the water from it, added the chili powder, sauce and some water and cooked it until I felt like it tasted O.K.

I know Joann want eat the spicy chili. Joann's mom gave us some packs of the 2 Alarm chili. I hated to throw them away so I used one. Her mom got it free from a food pantry, and then gave it to us. I never complain about free food.

Yesterday free food was given away in the city near us by and old out of business supermarket. Joann's mom told us about it, but I had already went grocery shopping for Thanksgiving so we decided not to go to the place. One reason was other folks needed it more than us. Another reason was the lifting. We were tired and did not feel well. Lifting Becky can be a bit of a task sometimes.

This morning I made some chicken salad that they will eat. I used thousand Island dressing, mayonnaise, salt and pepper, sweet relish, hard boiled eggs, and mustard. Mixed it all together, and put it in the refrigerator. When they get up they will have it with bread, and coffee and stuff.

Joann's mother is supposed to visit this morning. She likes to make ice tea. I bought three different kind of boxes of tea. I bought Cold brew tea, Black tea, and Green Tea. I will give her mom a bunch of all three kinds. She gives us stuff, and we give her stuff. I have plenty of frozen hot dogs and packs of baloney I bought on sale. I will give her some packs of them , and when she goes home Joann will give her some cooked cabbage some of my chicken salad and some of my home made bread.

I always share food. I use to do that with my mom and dad. I do not like to eat fast food anywhere without bringing home food for my family. I never go anywhere hardly, but if I do, I will not eat out anywhere unless I can bring my family something. Joann puts a few dollars in my wallet. It never gets used unless I tip a bag boy at a grocery store a dollar for putting our groceries in our car.

Joann and Becky do not like to leave the house. So I shop by myself a lot. Joann will take a tum sometimes, and I will stay home.

Soon I guess I will have to take all my medicine. I stopped taking nerve and anxiety drugs. I use to take three different types. I have not taken nerve drugs in months. My kidneys are a little better. I do not sleep very much. If I sleep four or five hours I am lucky.

I believe Joann will cook some cabbage. I am not crazy about it, but if she cooks it I will eat it. Her mom likes it. Becky likes it some.

I need to do a little work in the yard , but I hate to go outside to do it. But I have to do it sooner or later.

God Bless Everyone

I use tea to help me to stay calm. Green tea decaf (give up all caffeine if you have sleeping or nerve problems)and I also put in chamomile and or sleepytimes, a pk or two of grey is good for breathing so I put that in to help my husband and sweeten with honey before it cools,(I make up enough to do a few days. Wal-green's honey is about half as much as all others on sale quite often this is for day drinking cold and it helps prevent colds etc,(antioxidants)and I never get any colds and I also stay away from fast food places to not get sick. At night sometimes I fix chai which I couldn't stand until I started drinking it hot with milk and honey or creamer(now I love it hot and it is good to make you sleepy) dollar general brand is best deal on the creamers and you can use them in mashed or instant potatoes, with corn meal instead of milk, it makes the best tasting instant potatoes we have ever eaten (heat water and butter then add)and saves a lot over milk or cream. Many times you can find 100 bags of green tea at Dollar Tree for $1 of course. They have several things not bad and save $$. You do sound like a wonderful husband and father, just thought I would share some of my saving tips with you hope you don't mind. Guess we all are pinching pennies any more.
