THE LIFE OF A FARMER

Updated on December 16, 2009

Early in the morning, when the sun started rising and showing its wonderful light, he woke up from his deep slumber because he still have so many things to do during the day. Looking for a greener pasture for his working animals, freeing them to wander for a temporary freedom. To keep away from bothering flying insects and other small creatures, he started making a bonfire as a living testament that another day has come to start making a living. His wife expediting her function at her domain at home started preparing their meal, an early breakfast of hot coffee and bread and battered eggs enough to console the feeling of emptiness of the stomach to support him in his everyday activities by planting corn and other cash crops. His daily routine give him inspiration, happiness and satisfaction especially when the plants he cultivated was in its peak season and ready for harvest from several weeks of untiring efforts.

The heat of the sun is not the reason to stop working. Using a cap to shield him from it as he continued his life being a farmer and the hope of his family that the crop they planted can give them good fortune. The vegetables he raised in portion of his land gave them enough food to last for many months without depending on buying some vegetables and fruits in the market. All their daily requirements of fruits and vegetables and other cash crops were there in front of their eyes and ready for the picking. They have enough chicken and even raised enough hogs to sell to market and left some of it for their own subsistence.

They were ordinary people in a simple and ordinary living. They are not asking for more, a simple but happy life are all they wanted and they are satisfied with it. Their own piece of land is their assurance of continued existence. They can afford their children going to school due to good harvest. At the end of the day what was left was tiredness and painful body with high spirit that keep him going.

Living in a piece of land is not a handicap in a simple reason that when it is cultivated properly along with the desire to work can give a good result in harvesting the fruits of his labor. There was a sense of expectation at first and satisfaction later that the dream to have a good harvest and profits was in his hand.

Being a farmer is not an easy task. The success of the fruitful season will depend on weather condition, perseverance, timing, proper knowledge and hardwork. This were the many secret of a good farming behavior that many had overlooked. The success will depend on the hands of a farmer who took care the land.

A farmer is the hope of the world. They were the real hero for all of us. Our food on the table came from them. Even rich people were dependent on them. Their business will not grow if not from the raw materials they used in their production lines of new products taken mostly out from the cultivation of the land and their harvest.

Each one of us are dependent from them. They were the source that we have the opportunity to eat sweet fruits and nourishing vegetables and other cash crops through their hands and hardwork. We cannot live without them.

The progress of a certain region will depend on the the kind of income they raised to the land. Several hectares of fruit trees, seasonal fruits and other short and long term production of cash crops made the public market more lively and busy when interaction of traders and buyers competing each other to sell their produce for a good price in consideration of  the high cost involved in producing them. For the satisfaction of the farmers, a good harvest is their only hope that all their efforts is rewarded. It was their role that should not be taken lightly

How about you? Are you interested to be farmer for life? If you do, then help the land and the land will help you.
