"The Important Benefits Of Using Baking Soda"

When I was a child, I remember that we were poor in possessions because, we didn't have a lot of money to spend on even necessities. We were taught to compensate for things, we didn't have and baking soda became a household staple around our house for us;because we used it for a lot of reasons. Baking soda was use for brushing our teeth, it cleaned our teeth really well and cut down on bad breath and keep periodontal disease at bay. when we would take a bath, we were taught to use baking soda for under arm deodorant for body odor, which kept us from smelling like an old goat.

When we had indigestion , baking soda was used as a bicarbonate to relieve gas pains. there were many home remedies that baking soda was used for, including cooking with it; if we didn't happen to have baking powder in the pantry.   baking soda was also use in the wash to make our clothes fresh and clean.  It's also used in the refrigerator to keep different food odors at bay, like onions.  There are so many wonderful uses for baking soda; that it appears we can't really do without it, in our lives. Baking soda is a remarkable product that can be used over and over gain fo different uses.

Discovered the many use of baking soda several months ago. It produced the best and most freshest clean I've experienced in a long time. A natural non-chemical clean. It was great. Thanks for the added tips.

What's old is new again - and this time around we know it is better. We've been sold on the idea that everything else is better - like store bought toothpaste - that is so toxic we should never use it, and now we are advised not to let very young children use it. I now use baking soda to brush exclusively.

And it also makes a great quick sloughing cleanser for the face.

Poor you say? How about very smart.

Great hub - rated up of course!

I love using baking soda as a cleaning and health agent. It works so well, so much better than many commercial products.

Baking Soda is also an excellent alkaline, and when you put it in a hot bath, it will reduce your acidity rapidly, as the skin is our largest organ, but be careful trying to get out, it makes a bath really slippery.

If I get to acidic, I put 2 lb of baking soda in a the bath and soak for 20 mins.... instant alkaline balance!

Thanks, good hub on a great substance.

I use baking soda in the guinia pig pen to keep down odors. I also sprinkle it on my carpets and let it sit for an hour then vaccum it up. It gives the carpet and room a good fresh smell without the perfums.

Thank you Creativeone. I use Baking Soda a lot but you have introduced some new ways for me to take advantage of it.

Have you noticed that they have a Baking Soda detergent on the market now?

      Very meaningful hub.
