The Little Yellow Bird Down The Street

Updated on September 29, 2015

Created Wednesday, December 29, 2010

I am a small yellow bird, and I had some brothers ,and sisters, but they left the nest . Now I have more room to make plans.

Every day I pig out on fresh groceries brought to our nest. Mom sticks her beak down my throat, and regurgitates snacks, and she rams them down my throat , and it is all so delicious, and nutritious.

When I first flew out of the nest my mom was worried. Her, and dad kept flying around me like they lost their brains until I landed in some thick hedges, and then they seemed to be more relaxed. They stayed near me until I became a very good flyer. Now they live a few houses down the street, but they always check on me to see how I am getting along. You know how parents are. They can make themselves seem far away, but there always right right next door. Naturally I love them.

Today I plan to fly my regular rounds. There is a yellow house trailer down the street, and I think there is a bunch of cats over there too. There is a bush by one side of the trailer where I can see a black, and white cat that is wearing a white flea collar. I just know he is itching to see me. I wish I could play with him, but the glass window stops me from having any contact with him.

Anyway my mother told me that cats have been known to eat birds like me so I should be glad there is a window between you, and the cat .

Sometimes the cat, and I talk. I chirp, and he or she makes clicking sounds with his ,or her mouth. Why that cat makes those noises are kind of weird.

Sometimes I see people in the house trailer. I think there is a young girl that is unable to walk . Sometimes I see her mother lifting her, and carrying her from her bed. The man of the house is probably the father of the girl . He helps the little girl's mother to do things, for the girl which often sits in a wheelchair . He moves things out of the way so they can help roll the wheelchair to another room.

The family seems to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Mom, and dad must like to cook. They also have a speaker phone.

Sometimes I fly near their kitchen window, and the lady of the house me, and her cat talking.

I hope that someday the father in the house will build a bird feeder. He seems to be a friendly enough person. I bet if he built me one he would put sunflower seeds in it, and put a bird bath outside too.

Well anyway it is time for me to fly because I see a possum outside . The man from the house does not actually care if the possum destroys the garbage bags. The man just takes his time, and fills new bags with the same old garbage. He seems to use two walking canes .

Sometimes he plays harmonica music while he sits outside burning trash. Maybe he likes nature.

The family does not go outside very much. They are kind of indoors folks. They seem to be happy in their old house trailer. They have a bunch of cats in their home .

I saw a good looking male bird the other day. He was a real hunk. Maybe together he, and I can fly together sometimes .

This male bird has been wanting to get to know me. I think he is up to wanting to get personal , but I am a virgin which means he needs to come up with a beautiful oak tree, a nice nest, a diamond ring, and a lovely wedding gown with a train if he wants to romance me. I hope he has a nice decent job.

I should not have to worry about such things, but us girls need to look out for ourselves. Baby chicks are a large responsibility, and sunflower seeds are hard to find. It takes two to build a great nest , and believe me, I need a very nice soft nest if I ever intend to lay chick eggs. Baby chicks make a lot of noise, and they jump up, and down often .

Happy New Year to You! I am still laughing! This is so cute! When I was dating I knew a fella who talked to his mom once a week. he had such a crush on me that he asked her to keep in touch with me too. She called one day and asked me, "So when is my son going to get married and have his own little chicky-babies?" I answered her politely and never saw him again. You reminded me of that story. I couldn't be leading on someone who I only cared for like a brother so I stopped seeing him formally that day but we stayed friends for years. Reading this was divine-Thank you!

Dear Poohgranma : Thank you for writing. There is a real bird that comes to talk to our cat Tiger. Tiger makes those clicking noises. It is real cute to watch animals talk. I am sure Tiger would not be so civil with her bird friend without a window, but they are still cute. I think many children's books are done by this method. I am glad you liked it. GBY and Happy New Year.
