Yellow Jackets

Yellow Jackets can be extremely aggressive. Do not approach a known yellow jacket nest especially if you know you are highly allergic to these members of the wasp family. Instead of trying to get rid of the yellow jackets yourself contact a professional exterminator as they know how to get rid of the yellow jackets and you won't get stung. In the southern USA they usually live underground but they can really build a nest almost anywhere so be careful.

Wasps

Use care when approaching wasp nests as some wasps are highly territorial and will attack and sting if they think their nest is being attacked or about to be attacked. They build a lot under porch roofs and in storage and utility buildings. Again if you have a wasp problem call a professional exterminator to help you with your problem.

Yellow Jackets are very aggressive and will attack you if you approach their nest. Many people in the south mowing grass are attacked each year by the underground dwelling yellow jackets.

If your yard or area has a lot of yellow jackets you can hang yellow jacket traps around the edges of your yard to capture and kill the yellow jackets. Just use great care when you remove and empty the traps.
