Home Bars Play Different Roles

Determining how you will be using your bar will help you decide what kind you will buy. So before you start looking you might want to consider some of the following points.

When you entertain, will you and your guests be at the bar for extended periods of time? If so then you want to consider a considerable amount of space that can be dedicated to the entertaining area so you can accommodate a larger bar and maybe even an extra pub table with chairs or bar stools.

Do you want your home bar to be more of just a place to store and prepare beverages for you and your guests? If so then you might want to consider looking at smaller or more compact bars that do not include stools or chairs. This also gives you the option to entertain in a different area of of your home, the living room, dining room or maybe even on the patio.

You also want to consider what type of beverages you will be storing and serving. If you are only interested in a wine bar, then you may only want one that offers storage for you wine and features a stemware rack.

Another option you might want to consider is if your home bar will remain stationary. If you want one that can be moved to different areas of your home, then you might want to consider a smaller bar or one that has casters for easy moving.

If you entertain at all, having a bar or wine cabinet can really be an added feature. Drinking responsibly is the only way to go and should always be practiced.

You could always hold off on stocking the bar until you would be entertaining. Thanks for the visit!

I stopped drinking a while ago. That is because I don't believe in having one drink. I always like to get a few too many.. BUT.. having said that I feel completely at ease around people drinking and maybe a bar is a good idea for my new home.

      Thanks Phil,

Excellent point, kids are a consideration. There are some home bar cabinets that can be locked which is a great feature.

We entertain quite often and though I hadn't considered the addition of a bar in my home, you make some excellent points. I think I'm going to have to wait until my youngest is significantly older, however, as at the moment my house is mostly overrun by toys. You get a useful from me.
