Top 5 Electric Blankets

Updated on October 21, 2012

Man, would I have loved to have an electric blanket when I was a kid. My mother had one, but I didn't. And let me tell you, my flannel sheets were warm, but not as warm as an electric blankie would have been! I suppose she didn't let me have one out of fear I might get hurt or something, and I reckon it's probably not the best idea to stick an electric blanket in a kid's bed, particularly if they are still wetting it (I wasn't, I swear!) or if they are a super restless sleeper and you get worried about the cord and stuff... but if you've got a hankering for your own warm and fuzzy electric blanket, you go ahead and get a nice one for yourself. These make fabulous Christmas gifts too, especially for those who wouldn't normally indulge themselves with such a luxury -- you know they'll be thrilled that someone else did it for them!

Sunbeam Camelot Retreat

The Sunbeam Camelot Retreat electric blanket is one of the best. This model is a bit more expensive but do note the version you see here is a king and it does come in other sizes. And colors, of course. Heats up super fast, 100% polyester and it's machine washable. The control settings are digital.

Sunbeam Quilted Electric Blanket

This is my favorite Sunbeam electric blanket. Look at that gorgeous quilting! It comes in every size and I daresay nearly every color. Made of 100% polyester and has a lovely plush feel. Dual controller has 10 settings. Totally machine washable and it's got a 5 year warranty.

Soft Heat Warming Blanket

The Softheat Warming Blanket is a bit pricier than the last model, but it's gorgeous. It's got super thin wires that will not poke at you while sleeping, it's got "over-temperature" protection, it shuts off automatically after 10 hours so you needn't worry, and not only is it machine washable, you can stick it in the dryer!

Sunbeam Camelot Cuddler

The Sunbeam Camelot Cuddler is a top-selling electric throw blanket and it's super affordable. It's got 3 settings and it will shut off by itself after 3 hours. You can wash it, dry it, and you will love the plush softness as you cuddle up in front of the telly with a cup of cocoa. Measures 50 inches by 60 inches.

Sunbeam Royal Nights Elec. Blanket

Another Sunbeam electric blanket! Well, what can I say? They appear to be the most popular electric blanket manufacturers. Comes in all sizes and several colors, has a quilted edging, and is 100% polyester. 10 heat settings and you can put it in the washer.
