Top Interior Design Blogs

Updated on September 12, 2014

Seeing an interior design project through to the very end can be tiresome, stressful and overwhelming. It can be even more exhausting when the internet is saturated with opposing ideas, ever changing trends and flawless images of dream homes way beyond the realms of what most would call reality. Where on earth do we begin?

In the long run, the vast amount of information we have available can only be a good thing; there are endless blogs and websites demonstrating their very own interpretation of modern design trends. Visually orientated social media accounts such as Pinterest and Instagram also encourage and support the popularity of these blogs, especially those that consistently produce great quality content each day of the week.

‘Apartment Therapy’

Favourite Post: ‘How to Overcome Home Envy: 5 Foolproof Steps to Try’

Apartment Therapy does exactly what its name suggests! Surely anyone could spend an entire day scrolling through this site, filling their boots with fab interior design ideas alongside DIY and style advice (to name but a few specialist categories!) On the homepage you are greeted straight away with a series of popular trending blog entries, a colour guide and room-by-room design options, as well as a great opportunity to take a look at some of the most beautiful homes using the regular ‘house tour’ feature. A fabulous website with plenty to offer and a great starting point for any project!

Favourite Post: ‘Bedroom: Project Redecorate!’

Decor8’s tagline promises ‘inspiring interiors and ideas for creative living,’ and this site definitely delivers. Stunning images of projects past are supported by a fantastic conversational writing style that engages us further with each venture, as well as plenty of internal links to other supporting posts. This site is also a great destination for anyone looking for a discussion or additional advice from other readers - you should always be sure to glance through the comments for other opinions and ideas!

'Bodie and Fou’

Favourite Post: ‘House Tour: A Beautifully Renovated White Home in North London’

This is a fantastic one for the personal touch! Karine Candice Köng flourishes with French elegance, offering an amazing insight into her own beautiful homes alongside some fabulous projects and house tours. We particularly love the posts about her industrial design projects, such as the warehouse style home in Amsterdam and her soft industrial kitchen designs. Be sure to check out her moodboards too for extra inspiration, especially if you’re a fan of the monochrome trend. We challenge anyone to deny that email subscription after viewing such wonderful interior delights!

‘My Friend’s House’

Favourite Post: Address Book: The Four Poster Bed Trend’

We absolutely love the quirkiness of this site! ‘My Friend’s House’ is a great blog for gathering up design ideas, especially with regards to bedroom style and trends. The ‘Decorating Dilemma’ section successfully communicates the thrill and experimental uncertainty of interior design; these two friends draw upon their own personal experiences to create something fabulous to read and write about. We especially love the sentiment behind Everything Grandma Gave Me, a post that effortlessly proves how cherished, inherited items can be proudly used to decorate in and around the home.

‘The Interior Project’

Favourite Post: Home Help: Bedroom Storage

This is another one of those great starting points for any interior design mission! ‘The Interior Project’ offers a plethora of creative ideas and up-to-date fashions for all areas of the home, boasting some fabulous bedroom features especially. You can stay on trend and take a look at the ‘Editor’s Picks’ section for some great weekly articles, or take a glance through the DIY pages for more ideas on how to renovate, build and recycle long lost items and spaces.

‘The English Sofa Company’

Favourite Post: Creative Ideas For Small Kitchens

This is blog has a variety of different articles, all there to help you with your home décor. I like blogs that do not focus on one aspect of home decorating and breahc outside of those ideas. I particually like this post on small kitchens, as I have a small kitchen and it really helped me to think outside the box with the decoration.
