Troia's Cafe and Marketplace

A few "must see's" of Georgetown Colorado.

Troia’s Café and Marketplace is a family owned and operated Italian Café and Marketplace located in the heart of Georgetown Colorado. I first stumbled upon Troia’s Café in February 2012, I blew in on a cold snowy day looking for a warm meal. I was greeted by Tracy Troia whom is a very warm hearted young women who is rich in Italian culture. The food she personally prepared for me was top notch and finished with a dash of caring and served with a side of friendship. Tracy, and her mother Terry have welcomed me back several times now since I first discovered them. Each time I return for another plate of pasta they’re both inside smiling, entertaining and sharing laughter with the public and their friends!

I had the opportunity of purchasing a T shirt from the Troia‘s, and I feel that I must share what they chose to print on the back side.
“trattoria” ([trattorial]): an Italian-style eating establishment, less formal than a ristorante, but more formal than an osteria. There are generally no printed menus, the service is casual, wine is sold by the decanter rather than the bottle, prices are low, and the emphasis is on a steady clientele rather than on haute cuisine. The food is modest but plentiful (mostly following regional and local recipes) and in some instances is even served family style.

I feel that the above written statement about this Café fully encompasses the atmosphere and style of service. Frankly, I couldn’t have said it better myself.

If I had to compare this dining experience with some of the finer places I have visited, I would say that this Café gets a 10 out of 10! The dining room and building itself are a little dated, but they fit in just perfectly with the surrounding area. If it weren’t for the sign sitting out front displaying the daily special, a person could just miss out on this dining experience!

The Troia’s offer excellent quality food at a fair price, and portioning is above average. I have never been able to finish everything on my plate. They also offer some finer wines and spirits, as well as a few heady brewed Colorado beers. The menu is not very extensive, however what you get is unmatched in quality anywhere else in the region, and does include dessert. There is often times local live music artist performing quietly in the store front window as you dine.

I have made several visits up to Georgetown to see Terry and Tracy, and each time I return I get a stronger sense of friendship than the previous visit. Its easy to see why I feel this way. From the time you walk in the door, and even after you finish your meal and drinks, the Troia’s are serving the finest food, wine and atmosphere in the old mining city. The smiles, honest “thank you’s” and warm hearted attitudes have made me a returning customer for life!

If you are ever in Georgetown, I would strongly recommend stopping in to see the wonderful ladies, get a warm bite to eat, and head up over Guanella pass for some incredible breathtaking mountain views.

Don’t forget to have a glass of the “La Familglia” wine, and make sure you ask about the local music!
You wont be disappointed! You will be sincerely impressed!
