Underneath The Willow Tree

Updated on September 8, 2010

Underneath the willow tree.

The loving birds do comfort me.

Their tale they tell just through their call.

They sing and tweet until night fall.

They show me calm and inner peace.

They give me hope and release.

When my time is over and my maker I must meet.

I hope a bird I do become for you to hear my tweet.

Then I will bring you all those things, that birds have brought to me.

Each time you come and sit beneath the beautiful willow tree.

This was lovely - you have captured the sadness and sense of calm I always associate with willow trees... and with the birds singing, the image is just complete. Loved it!

There's rhyming that grates and rhyming that's great. Yours is the latter a nicely constructed, sweet poem. Cheers

Hi Calpol- first visit but will be following you. Love willows, birds, nature and the possibility of coming back in better form. Flying and singing would be a welcome change. Great poem. Cheers.

that is so beautiful. Do you know the song "The Willow" by Joan Armatrading, it is one of my all time fave songs, and your poem kinda reminded me of it a little.
