Vitamix Blender: Green Smoothies and Other Great Recipes for a Healthier Lifestyle

Updated on September 25, 2013

Vitamix Blender has many uses

Vitamix blender (sometimes referred to as Vitamixer) has the reputation of being the best commercial-quality blender on the market today. It is used by many professional chefs worldwide to prepare smoothies, soups, sauces, and other recipes. In my home, I use my Vitamix 5200 blender mostly to make green smoothies, soups and ice creams. It made healthy nutrition easy - I rarely get sick any more, plus my 9-year-old son loves them! Here are some of my favorite recipes.

Vitamix Blender for Ideal Nutrition

For ideal nutrition, it is recommended to consume a diet that is high in raw plant foods - fresh fruits, vegetables and leafy greens; and one that is low in fat, animal protein, and sodium. Healthy meals should consist of mostly of fruits, vegetables, greens, as well as legumes, whole grains, and raw nuts and seeds used in moderation. Some say that ideal diet for humans should consist of at least 70% or more (the more, the better) of calories from fruits and vegetables in their RAW state or lightly cooked or steamed.

The question is: "How can one consume this much of fruits, vegetables, and especially greens?"

For most people, even getting the minimum recommended portions is problematic, and many people say they don't even like eating fresh veggies and greens that much. And let's not forget about all the preparation required to make a big salad every single day.

That's where a blender may help.

Vitamix blender can help you process all the fruits into delicious green smoothies, fruit smoothies, juices, soups, creams, ice-creams, that will make it easy for you to stick to the healthy diet!

For best health benefits, use a variety of fruits and vegetables each day. In particular, select from all five vegetable subgroups (dark green, orange, legumes, starchy vegetables, and other vegetables) several times a week.

Did you know that large percentage of modern prescription drugs are laboratory imitations of phytochemicals that occur naturally in whole fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes? Food prepared in the Vitamix blender delivers 100% of these health-enhancing nutrients that are stripped away in refined and processed foods.

Green smoothies are a really simple and easy way to add more veggies to your diet – just take any fresh greens you like and blend them with fruit! Even kids who hate vegetables love smoothies.

Strawberry banana smoothie with a cup of spinach is a classic. My current favorite is spinach with 2 big pears. Spinach builds strong bones! Another one is apple with celery.

Vitamix Vs Blendtec

Of course, Vitamix is not the only blender in town. Having said that, there are really only two blenders that are worth your money if you are looking for a quality machine to make green smoothies and other healthy creations: Vitamix, of course is the first one, the other one being Blendtec blender.

While comparing Blendtec vs Vitamix will reveal some subtle differences between the two, both are really excellent kitchen appliances worth every penny (and at about $400 they sure cost a lot of pennies!).

Vitamix Vs Blendtec Comparison

Vitamix is a great and versatile kitchen appliance. Another great blender that is worth mentioning here is Blendtec. Choosing between these two blenders is not easy, but the good news is this - whichever one you choose - you cannot go wrong!

Books I Recommend

Green for Life
Green for Life

"Following Victoria's advice, I added lots of GREENS to my fruit smoothies, and the first day I did so MY FOOD CRAVINGS STOPPED. Bang. Just vanished. Just like my brain's "cravings switch" was flipped to the OFF position. Apparently my body had been craving minerals all those years, and once I started eating GREENS the cravings stopped. And I'm finally trimming down!"

I just got my first Vitamix a few days ago and I already love it! Made two smoothies and grinded up a block of parmesan cheese to have on hand and I love the finished texture the Vitamix provides. This is a very helpful hub and I want to try the recipes provided. Voted up.
