Laundry Hampers & Washing Baskets

Updated on July 24, 2014

Clothing is an important item for every person - not only is it a necessity for warmth and modesty, it's also a way for people to express their own personal styles and tastes.

Of course, all clothes need washing, some more than others.

If you have a lot of different clothing items, chances are that if you let your washing lapse for long, you'll be faced with a scarily big, disorganized pile.

Of course it looks a whole lot neater if your washing is organized, instead of having it thrown or piled at random.

Below you'll find some lovely clothes hampers and washing baskets that will suit your needs from the small to the large and even more comfortable designs. There are also some lovely styles and colors to match your décor.

Laundry Hampers

Instead of throwing your clothing on the floor, it's a good idea to keep it stored out of the way in one location so that when you begin your next load of washing, you won't have to spend too long finding all those important clothing items before you turn on the washing machine.

There are plenty of different styles, shapes and sizes depending on exactly what you need.

For the more transient lifestyle, you may find that a cloth or netting folding hamper may be the perfect way to store washing and yet still fold up and fit into a small space.

If you're looking for economy, a plastic hamper may be the way to go - with a huge range of styles in high quality plastic, you don't have to worry that sacrificing on cost will impact on their life span.

If you're looking for a long term hamper to match your layout and house colors, there are some lovely timber, rattan and art décor hampers available as well. One of these will keep your washing away from prying eyes and add that extra touch to that special room.

Washing Baskets

Of course, once you've thrown all your dirty clothing in the washing machine, you'll need something to carry it out to the washing line.

Depending on your needs, there are all different types available.

If you live on your own and don't have a lot of washing, a small square basket may be just the thing.

If you're washing and folding for a larger family, it might be a good idea to buy one of the large, deep, rectangular baskets with sturdy trim and handles to stand up to the extra work it will probably do.

If you're looking for a washing basket that makes a statement or something that has an old fashioned feeling to it, try a cloth lined woven willow basket. Available in dark and light woods, you're sure to find one that matches your décor.

If you're more concerned with comfort than with looks, try one of the comfy hip hugging baskets. There's an example below. With a gentle curve and special design, these are great if you do a lot of washing and want to make the experience of carrying heavy loads to the line easier.
