Why I Love Cherries
Love Funky, Wild, Fun, and Retro (and Yummy!) Red Cherries? Me too!
I love cherries. I love to eat the fresh firm fruit and I love how cherries look so bright and cheery on products and clothing.
My love of cherries started as a child. We took a family trip to Kansas to visit my aunt's family in the "country." I remember they had a big cherry tree nearby and a bunch of us took a huge bowl and picked cherries to our heart's delight. The cherries were perfectly ripe, shiny and beautiful and I was thrilled to be able to pick them right off the tree. Even better, after that, we sat in the yard at a picnic table and ate endless fresh, juicy cherries out in the sunshine.
Later, after I had children of my own, we moved to the country ourselves. I was tickled to find out we had "wild" cherry trees on our acreage and it renewed my interest in cherries. It was then that I began collecting cherry fabric and decorated my kitchen in cherries. This lead me to find Mary Englebreit's items, so many of which have cherries in the designs.
So that is my cherry story. I started this page for those of you who love cherries of want to find a gift for someone who does.
