The Wisteria Tiffany Lamp: To Enjoy Today and For Generations to Come

Updated on September 28, 2011

Find a Wisteria Tiffany Lamp

Tiffany lamps are known for their beauty and quality. The botanical look of a Wisteria Tiffany lamp is a favorite among many people. These lamps provide space and task lighting and add unique ambiance to any room at any time, but especially when lit.

Whether authetic or reproduction, these lamps are truly a work of art and have been around since the 1870's. After the death of Louis Tiffany in 1933, many artists and manufacturers strove to recreate these beautiful lamps. Meyda is one of those making these handcafted stain glass lamps that are more affordable for the average home.

The primary characteristic of one of these lamps is the shade which is made from pieces of stained glass. There are a variety of styles from geometric to floral or botanical patterns. The base of the lamp typically complements the shade in it's design. Wisteria Tiffany lamps are believed to have been created by Clara Driscoll who was a director, designer, and craftsman for Tiffany, while others contend that Emarel Freshel was the designer. The Wisteria line is a floral/botanical design which has an irregular lower border. It has proven to be one of the most popular for generations.

Many of these Wisteria Tiffany lamps will have hundreds if not thousands of pieces of handcrafted stained glass which make up these striking shades. You will find tabletop designs, pendants, wall sconces, and even chandeliers on this page. Most of the pieces that you find, will also have other lamps available in a similar design. For instance, you may choose a tabletop design for your bedroom and then choose a matching wall sconce for your bath or hallway.
