A Rolling Garden Seat Makes Gardening Easier

Updated on April 25, 2014

As I've gotten older, I've gotten smarter about how to garden, and I've grown to love and appreciate my rolling Garden Seat. It used to be that I could just scoot down the sidewalk on my butt, or knees, as I planted, but it doesn't take long to realize that it's not that comfortable.

A garden seat helps eliminate back aches and pains when gardening caused by squatting, stretching and bending. With sitting closer to your plants it's easier to plant and harvest for longer periods of time.

Now I just sit on my garden seat and roll right along to the next area as I'm planting my petunias in the spring. I bought my little garden cart at a garage sale and it's no longer made any more, but this one has the same features.

  • Big Fat Tires: easy to roll on the sidewalk or the grass
  • Storage compartment: Where I store my gardening gloves, trowel, and extra seeds
  • Handle: A pull handle to transport across the yard and this one also serves as a brace to get up and down. I do have to say that now that I'm closer to 50 I appreciate the extra assistance in getting up.

I also have a vegetable garden and sitting on my garden seat to pick bush beans is so much easier than squatting or bending over. The important thing is to properly plan so you will have enough space between your rows to maneuver the seat. But I have just picked it up and placed it in a prime "picking" spot.

My husband kinda laughed at me when I first got the garden seat, but my daughter even uses it as it's a big help.

Don't take my word on it, watch how portable garden seats can make your gardening chores easier and less painful. Garden longer and enjoy gardening again.

I have one of these seats on wheels. I've had it for years, and love it. I also have the garden kneeler. My daughter gave it to me for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. It is a life saver, well, a knee saver anyway.

That looks like a smart idea! I've gotten tiered garden bed kits, and that makes gardening easier too.
