Looking back over my life, I can clearly see the forks in the road where I was faced with choices. The clearest of these was when I was in sales, making decent money. I had little time for anything else, and I was miserable. I had to make a choice between staying on that road, or following my passion for music. I followed my passion, and have been mostly happy ever since. I'm broke most of the time, but still happy.
"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost has always been one of my favorite poems. To me, it is a reminder that looking back with regret or longing is a huge waste of time. The fulfillment of dreams is not on the road behind, but on the road ahead.
