I lived in Alaska for a few years. We had washing machines and dryers. In extreme climates, it's best to wear synthetic water-wicking materials if you will be outside a lot. Coats with a water-resistant outer shell keep eskimos from getting wet. Wool (REAL [in other words, soft] wool) clothing is expensive, but wicks away water. It must be dry cleaneed only. Never wear cotton, including jeans, in wet and cold climates because it absorbs and holds water.
