When we lived in the country, we had a 200 acres of forest. I also had a garden and grew grapes. In the spring, I cut young branches of vines off the grape vines. I twisted them into circular shapes resembling wreaths. From the forest, my children and I gathered pine cones. Hundres of them in all different stages of growth. We sunned them for the summer so as to allow eggs to hatch and insects to remove themselves from the cones.
In the fall, we gathered colored fall leaves and conifer branches. At the end of September, we set to work.
We created grape vine wreaths by glue gunning the pine cones and conifer boughs. To add color, we tucked in some of the red, orange, yellow leaves. We also collected different types of berries on their branches and attached these to the wreaths.
We still hang these on our front door during the winter season. :)
