My "go to" solution is a product called "Simple Green". I buy it at home improvement stores, like Lowes and Home Depot. It can be used full strength for greasy, stuck on cleanup messes, but I find that if I add a small amount of water, then it works best. I pour a cup of Simple Green into a bowl and then I add 1/4 cup of water. Measurements are eyeball approximates. Then, I use a sponge to clean up the mess. Sometimes, I have to let it sit for a minute or two before wiping the mess with clean water.
Another thing I have tried for sticky greasy messes is baking soda. I sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge and then wipe. It tends to do the job quite well. But, for those occasions where I have let things go too long (like the bottom of the toaster oven), then I use the Simple Green.
