cjarosz-- I can relate to your answer so much! It can seem like someone is constantly needing you or requiring your supervision and it is so hard to carve out time that you can just relax and not worry about who needs what or what the kiddos are doing. An hour or so after the kids go to bed is simply not enough!
A year or so ago I explained to my husband that I needed an hour every other night or so to work out and an entire morning or afternoon at least every other weekend to go out by myself. This time is so important! As moms we need to make taking care of ourselves a priority, but this can be so hard because our family always needs something or perhaps our husband may feel too overwhelmed by the kids to really step in and let us step out for a bit.
I remember when I first started going out for a few hours here and there, my husband would ask me to get our daughter dressed and pull out food for her to eat, or he wouldn't want me to go and I would go anyway. Now, two years later, he is so much more confident and shoos me out the door when I try to give him any instructions. I think that time is as good for his relationship with our children as it is for my sanity. :-)
