Can you propogate Hellebores from stem cuttings?

I have a hellebores that was given to me a few years ago. I just cut off all the dead leaves and branches of that plant. I have a white one. I know that you can devide the roots and get seeds from them. I was looking at the stems and seeing nodules on them. Will they grow roots if I plant them or put in water?

Thank you and got my answer. No cuttings! Okay I will wait until late summer to split it up. I would love to get different colors of the hellebores but they are quite expensive around here.

That is good. I do the same with mine. I just let it grow.
