Since 2002-2009 we have always paid our mortgage and utilities but our credit is bad for credit cards and for medical bills. I want to rent a house now, will I have a problem? Will they take into consideration that I paid mortgage on time?
That will depend on who you are renting the house from. If it is an individual, there is a good chance that you can explain your situation and gain some leeway. If you are going through a property management company or realtor, they may run credit checks and decide that you are a "high-risk" client. Credit reports tend to highlight the negatives so the fact that you always paid your rent may not necessarily show up on the credit report. Good luck. WB
