Ahh, The ever present ant problem. As with any insect problem, you must clean any exposed food that may be around the home. The next step is to find where they seem to be coming from, follow the line of ants back to where they will be originating from(wall, outlet, door jam, carpet, ect.). Now you have a choice, use a nest killing agent found at your local store, Wal-mart, Target, ect. and place it at the base of where they are entering your home, allowing them to carry the POISON back to the nest and it will kill the colony from with-in.
Or the You find out where they are entering your home from the outside( the dirt will look granulated and mound shaped) and you use a sugar and fruit based mixture in a small amount of water, placing this mixture away from your home from the colony entrance to another location.
The last option is to pack-up and move, leaving the keys with a drone ant, never to return. There are other options, these two I have had great success with. The sugar mixture requires a week to get them away from your home, apply the water mix each day, a little further away each time. Good luck!
