   Inward!
   This is, in Feng Shui, where the Chi enters your home, just as you do & a door opening outward would disrupt this flow. Energy should flow into your home smoothly & feel welcoming.
   An outward opening front door is definitely not welcoming to someone on your doorstep when you open the door to them.
   This applies to rooms too. All doors should open into the room.

   Front doors, or any exits, on commercial structures are required to open outwards incase many people attempt to exit a structure. In 1942, 492 people died in the Cocoanut Grove Nightclub Tragedy in Boston due to a fire, and the exits opening inward, causing people to pile up on each other and go nowhere.
   
   I do not believe there are any laws concerning residential structures, besided apartment buildings. Inward opening doors would not be a concern to people in a house because there wouldn't be dozens of people trying to exit through a single door at one time.

   We just had our front door changed recently. Doors are supposed to open outward. The frame being inside serves as protection against someone kicking it open, or high winds such as those of tornado or hurricane.

   All our doors open inward, including the front door, but I didn't realise it was good feng shui too!

   it open any way the owner of the place building it want it and the person can make any reason that they want to go in or out ward. I did ask a person that when I work as a mover 25 years ago and the person say who double doors was outward  that it made he door stronger from break in

   I believe that they are suposed to open inward. I think the one of the main reasons for that is in areas where there is snow if you get a good dump of snow you might not be able to open your door if you had to open it outward. It is also alot nicer to invite someone in if you don't have to push them away with the door first...lol
