Baby and Toddler Table and Chair Set for Play
Baby and Toddler Table and Chair Set for Play and Activities
What got me started on this particular theme of little table and chair sets for toddlers happens to be a little fella named Tristan. :) Tristan is my little nearly-3-year-old grandson, well, technically, he's my step-grandson, but who cares! :) We're always on the lookout for fun and cute things for him, and for his older brother and sister. In fact, we found a child-size recliner at a yard sale that we just couldn't resist! The kids LOVE "kid-size" furniture!
So, if you like the idea of kiddie sized things, and need a baby or toddler table and chair set - whether it be for a quiet play time or other activity, you will certainly find what you need in our selection below!
So, Tristan is a VERY active little 2-year old boy, but we also know some toddlers about his age who are a little quieter. So it is with these different youngsters and babies in mind that we offer you a wide range of styles and materials to choose from. We are also mindful that there are different budgets to consider, so it is my hope that we have addressed the needs for all of you!
I hope you enjoy what we have put together here!

Wooden Child Play Table and Chairs - Some of these are adorable!
I'm definitely aware that many parents prefer wooden child table and chairs for play time and other activities over plastic. And, frankly, I prefer wood as well. So, I really want to start off by featuring what I think are some of the best ones.
I found a few really fun, brightly painted ones as well as some solid color ones. What I'll do is group them for you - solids first, then some multi-color table and chair sets next.
Just so you know - in this initial selection, I am showing you the ones with the best ratings. I'd actually be a little hard-pressed to choose just one, since I like them all.
This table seems to be THE most highly rated. More than 300 reviews, with 200 of them 5-Star! Not a lot of these tables come with the 4 chairs, either. So, this one makes the top of my list.
This is a classic look, and is also getting a lot of 5-star ratings by users. Very sturdy - one parent says it's strong enough to hold the parent's weight. Not sure I would personally try that! :)
Yet another 5-star choice! One parent mentions it's the perfect size for a 3 year old, but a little small for a 5 year old. But that's fine since we're really focusing on the toddler's needs here.
Isn't this an unusual one! I am intrigued by its modern lines. This one is also getting lots of 5-star reviews. It's just ever-so-slightly different. I like it.
Remember the "Kids' Table" at Family Gatherings?
Did you have a "kids' table?"
Growing up, we frequently visited my mom's mom and dad. They lived in a 2-bedroom apartment - actually, the same one my mom grew up in.
And next door was my Auntie & Uncle - they were originally from Russia, and my aunt was 18 when my mom was born (here in the US, once they had all immigrated).
So, I had some cousins as well as my brother and sister. And whenever we'd have dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's apartment, there wasn't quite enough room for all of us at the dinner table.
Hence, the "Kids' Table." We weren't lucky enough to have one of these cool tables that I'm showing you here. For us it was a folding card table!
But, the memories are just as good...
Decorated or PAINTED Childrens Table and Chairs
As promised, now we'll take a look at a few nice decorated, or painted, childrens table and chairs sets. I highlighted a couple that have no real "theme" - just lovely colors, and then I selected a "jungle animal" theme, cute alphabet theme, and then "Thomas" - because when I think of my little grandson, I know he just loves Thomas!
It appears that KidKraft consistently ranks right at the top. This set is no different. People love it. I mentioned this on another page, but I'll repeat myself: I love that pastel!
There is something about this set that I fell in love with. Surprisingly, I did not find any reviews on this set! I don't know why... It's a little more expensive than some of the others, but just look at it! So far, I'm leaning toward this as one of my favorites.
I'm including this because it's just so creative! One parent was disappointed in its size - says it's REALLY small. And yet others are saying it's perfect for their 2 and 3 year olds. I like this one almost as much as the Alphabet Soup one, above!
"Bunny" Childrens Wooden Table and Chairs - Beautiful and Elegant!
Did I mention I have a "thing" about bunnies? Whenever there is a rabbit in the yard (which is frequently), we call it "Bunny." Our resident "Bunny" calmly chews on plantain and clover, and hardly runs away when we come outside (unless we're within about 10 feet... that seems to be Bunny's limit).
But, I digress...
This is a high quality, wood table and chair set from the Alexander Collection. The carved "bunny" design is just too cute to resist! The table itself is 28 x 28 inches square, and about 21 inches high. This set is truly a piece of furniture that your little one would cherish, and could hand down to his or her little one! Just lovely!
Below, we show a few KidsKraft Items - Here's a video showing on of them up close!
Toddler and Kids Table and Chair Set WITH STORAGE! - Now THAT'S Thinking! :) They obviously have me in mind!
Now we're talking! Choosing a toddler or kids table and chair set with storage is a smart move - especially if you don't have tons of room (or closet or drawer space!). Which is the case in our own house. These are the types of tables that are right up John's alley... he loves practical items, so even though I'm more-or-less partial to the lovely designs I've pointed out above, John would be a bit more inclined to look at the practical side of things. :)
In my house, we honestly just don't have a lot of storage for kids activities or crafts, so one of these is definitely ideal for our needs. Tristan, the little 2-year old grandson, seems to enjoy "squirreling" things away (you should have seen his pacifier "collection"), so this is an ideal way to not only store the crayons, paints, etc, but it's also a great teaching tool - helping them learn to put their things away when they're done.
Again, KidKraft takes the prize! One parent says that they have had this for 5 years! Also, another parent mentions the compact nature of the set, and how it stores VERY easily.
Another choice with a lot of great reviews. One parent said it only took about a half an hour to assemble. One thing to keep in mind is that one parent mentioned that there isn't a lot of "leg room" for the child to spread out below - that's probably due to the storage bins. Still a strong contender. Oh! They have this one in pastel purple/pink too!
Again, a nice design. One parent mentioned that the assembly instructions were not good; however, once assembled, they were very pleased.
Now... for something a little different... - Adorable "Little Tikes" Table and Chairs
It's easy to see why Little Tikes Table and Chairs sets are popular! They are sturdy, to be sure - BUT, look at the colors! Children seem to really respond to bright colors. Heck, even I respond to these!
Also, these are budget-friendly tables - an attractive feature for any family! These are built in just the right size for toddlers! I want to also let you know that I choose those table and chair sets that have high marks from users. AND, some of these have free shipping. Oh, did I mention that they're pretty sturdy? :)
Anyway, most parents already know this brand, but I thought I'd toss a couple of them into the ring for you to look at.
For parents who are safety conscious, someone pointed out a neat feature here: Rounded corners. Also - no assembly! Something to think about...
Easy. Sturdy. 54 5-star reviews (with 20 4-stars, and just a handful of lesser reviews). The few 1-star (worst) reviews mentioned that they are lightweight and slide too easily. Take a look and weigh the pros-and-cons.
Step2 New Traditions Child's Table and Chair Set - For Babies and Toddlers from about 2 years and up
There are a few things that caught my eye with this particular little table and chair set. For one thing, the manufacturer says that it can be used for babies 24-months and up. If your little one is as tall as our grandson is, you might be able to use it even earlier. He's quite tall for his age (already into size 3T and he is only 24 months!) - and this would be a good fit for him, even a few months ago. You can judge for yourself.
Another thing that I think will appeal to many parents is that it is an easy clean up and easy assembly. Parent reviews are very high on this item. They are complimenting this on its sturdiness and durability of the set. And, even though you cannot see this from the picture, a parent was happy that there is a little "lip" that keeps the crayons from rolling off the edge. Nice touch!
Activity Table for Babies - How cute are these! :)
Parents are always looking for an activity table for babies since they engage all the senses - babies can touch, push, listen, see, and yeah... teethe... on these. All the more reason to be sure you're buying an activity table that meets all of today's safety standards. Obviously, these aren't going to be of much interest to your toddler (unless you have a younger baby who's playing with one of these and your toddler has to get into the act... but THAT never happens, does it? hee hee)
Here are a few good ones which are also popular with parents, including a version of the Leap Frog activity table that the babies are playing with in the video below.
With over 1200 reviews, >800 of which are 5-star, this one goes straight to the top of the list. Total customer favorite.
This has an interesting function that I wasn't aware of! It has an English & Spanish mode - so if you'd like to expose your baby to more than one language (Personally, I love this idea!), you may wish to look at this!
Also a consistently well-reviewed purchase. Too bad we can't ask the BABIES what they think! :)
Finding Cheap Kids Clothes
Just added something to the photo credit, below... Just had to talk about the look on this kid's face!. Anyway, is it even possible to find cheap kids clothe...
A little about me...
Thanks so much for visiting this page! I love kids, and John and I have a little grandson (actually, it's John's grandson, but I love him as though he were mine as well!). He is a toddler - and loves to play and "do stuff" like every other little kid, and even though he can climb up into a "big people's chair," one of these table sets are so much more comfortable for kids his size. Plus, if they tumble out of their chair, they don't have far to fall! :)
