Best Dual Flush Toilets for Your Home

Updated on August 2, 2013

What are the best dual-flush toilets?

I hadn't even heard of dual flush toilets a couple of years ago! If you haven't heard of them, dual flush toilets have two flushes -- a smaller flush and a larger flush, depending on need. They are environmentally friendly and use much less water than a traditional toilet. They are really fantastic to have in your house. We put one into our new main bathroom, and it's one of my favorite parts of the renovation. I never thought I'd be so excited about a toilet, but I'm always telling people how great they are!

Toto CT412F#03 Bone Dual Flush Elongated Toilet Bowl Only Less Tank and Seat, with 12" Rough-In from the Aquia Series CT412F

The best of the best dual flush toilet is definitely the Toto. They have the best toilets on the market overall, but they have a number of great dual flush toilets. This is the one we purchased, and I can't tell you how much I love it! It has an amazing full flush, and saves water and energy with the half flush. It takes a little getting used to to remember to push the right button, as it's not labeled. But it's pretty easy to figure out. Smaller button for smaller flush, larger button for big flush!

The Toto dual flush toilet is not the least expensive toilet on the market, but it is definitely the Rolls Royce of them.

American Standard 2889.216.020 White H2Option H2Option Two-Piece Round Toilet with Top Mounted Trip Lever and 1 gpf to 1.6 gpf 2889.216

The American Standard dual-flush toilet is less expensive than the Toto, and gets generally good reviews as well. This model has a round toilet, but there are also elongated toilets as well. It has a very small tank, but it doesn't need a big tank because of its efficiency. It's a great choice for people who want quality at a lower price point. It's possible that when we replace our other toilets, we will go with this. However, I'm still pleased we spent the extra money on the toilet we use the most.

Kohler K-3654-96 Biscuit Persuade Persuade Two Piece Elongated Toilet with 12" Rough In K-3654

People love this dual flush toilet once they've gotten it installed, but according to the reviews, it's a difficult installation a lot of the time. But once it's working, it's a great toilet for the money. Note this does not include the toilet seat. It's a good mid-range dual flush. The cost is different depending on the color. As long as you're not getting a black toilet (which is expensive!), you can do worse than this Kohler dual flush.

Duravit D20016001 White/WonderGliss Starck X Two-piece Elongated European Style Toilet with Dual Flush Mechanism, Toilet Seat and Cover from Starck X Series D20

At over $3,000, this Duravit dual-flush toilet will be the talk of your bathroom. Because it's customized to your personal specifications, it requires additional time to be manufactured and shipped to you. This look is not for everyone, but it will definitely fit in a sleek and modern bathroom. If you've got the money to spare, there is nothing better!
