Best Waffle Maker to Buy in 2014

Updated on September 22, 2014

Presto FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker

There are waffle makers of all different shapes and sizes. Let us help you find the waffle maker that is right for your purposes.

After spending a week at my daughter's home, and making waffles for breakfast a couple times, I decided it was time for me to bite the bullet and buy a waffle maker for myself. I've always liked eating waffles for breakfast. I've just never felt like spending the money on one more small appliance to take space in my cupboards and counter tops. After that week, though, I decided this purchase would be worth it, because a waffle maker would be one appliance in the kitchen that would get plenty of use.

Selecting and buying a waffle maker was a fairly quick and easy process for me. I jumped on (which is where I do most of my online shopping - lowest prices, largest selection, and best service for most every type of product), did a little research, and selected the waffle maker that made the most sense for my needs. I purchased the Presto 3510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker.

Selecting the Best Waffle Maker to Buy

Which Waffle Maker is Best for You?

I made sure that I know exactly what features in a waffle maker were most important to me as I began my research. The Presto 3510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker was the best fit for what I was looking for.

Low Priced Belgian Waffle Maker

I was most interested in the price. I wasn't planning to spend an arm and a leg for a super-duper commercial waffle iron. Though it would be really prestigious to have one in my home, I have lots of other parts of my life that need more financial attention than a waffle maker.

Durable Waffle Maker

Since I wasn't going to spend top dollar, I needed to be sure that the waffle maker I chose still had a solid reputation for durability. Though I won't be using my waffle maker to feed tribes of people every day, I still plan to use it regularly (at least once or twice per week).

Simple to Use for Making Great Tasting Waffles

Just pour the correct amount of batter into the middle of the waffle iron. Close the lid and after a few seconds, flip it over. Then set the attached timer for about 4 minutes, or until the steam quits billowing out. Once finished, open the lid to reveal your finished waffle. Enjoy the nice, thick 7-inch round Belgian waffle that is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Fill the deep pockets in your waffle with luscious goodness of butter and maple syrup, blueberries or strawberries, chocolate chips, or whatever your favorite waffle topping may be.

Easy to Clean After You Finish Making Your Waffles

The surface is an attractive and smooth brushed aluminum for easy cleaning with a damp cloth. The black plastic base, handle, and components are all smooth and bold so that it isn't difficult to get a washcloth into the nooks and crannies.

Convenient and Compact to Store

The Presto FlipSide Waffle Maker folds up and locks in place with a very small footprint in a cabinet or on the counter.

How to Make Waffles

The Easiest Way

We always have a package of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix handy. We have always made pancakes before we purchased our Presto FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker.

What could be easier than one cup of powdered pancake mix, a half cup of water and a tablespoon of oil in a bowl and mixing it up.

Sometimes, I add a little flavoring to waffles, just to make them even more interesting. A couple tablespoons of your favorite Torani Syrup mixed in with the batter add excellent flavor to your waffles. My favorites to use for this purpose are caramel, vanilla, macadamia nut, and coconut. You may have another preference, so you should do a little experimenting to find which you like best.

It makes a decent waffle, but I'm sure that after we experiment with some homemade recipes and some whole wheat options, we will never go back to the "just add water" version of a waffle.

Belgian Waffles for Breakfast - Do You Make Waffles?

I've always preferred waffles over pancakes. It doesn't matter if they are made from the exact same batter and topped with the exact same toppings. I think it's the crispy outer part of the waffle that I like so much better than pancakes.

Brownies in a waffle iron? Sounds delicious! We used to eat warm waffles with ice cream spread all over them...I'll bet it's even better if your waffle is a brownie! :)
