Cute Bird Decorations

Updated on July 26, 2012

Why Bird Decorations?

I remember the beautiful birds in my grandmother's garden that I gradually grew fond of. As a kid I didn't pay much attention to birds or my grandmother's cute bird decorations, but as the years went by I slowly learnt to appreciate their beauty.

Today I enjoy bird watching and the peacefulness it provides, to quietly observe nature go by.

Decorating your home or garden with bird decorations can be a lot of fun, as you get to take a little bit of nature inside, and bring birds into your garden which normally don't have your post code as their habitat :-)

Garden Bird decorations

Flamingos are a great example of bringing something into your garden, which isn't native to your country or area, unless you live in a place where you already get to see Flamingos of course.

There are six flamingo species which are:

The American Flamingo which can be found in the Caribbean and the Galapagos islands.

The Andean & James' Flamingos found in Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile.

The Chilean Flamingo (Southern part of South America)

The Lesser Flamingo found in the North Western part of India and Africa.

The Greater Flamingo which can be found in South West Asia, Southern Europe and parts of Africa.

Other fun garden decorations are things such as seabirds, chickens and owls. When it comes to owl symbolism there are many tales and interpretations, but most commonly the owl is associated with wisdom and knowledge, so I guess the wooden owl statues are a bit of a classic.

In Japan owls are also a symbol of luck and help protecting one from suffering, so if sticking to the Japanese interpretation, an owl is certainly not a bad feature.

I enjoy watching owls in the wild, as well as all the little cute home ware designs and garden decorations available. Seabirds such as seagulls, terns, albatrosses and pelicans also make good garden features, as well as chickens and roosters. And the best thing about them is that you don't need to worry about the noise :-)

When it comes to decorating the home, birds can add a lot of life. There are so many different types and shapes to choose from, and with a huge variety of colors and styles it is not hard to find one to match a theme of a room, or create an entirely new one if you wish.

I remember as a child that the bird decorations box would always be pulled out at Christmas time, and we would have beautiful little birds sitting around the Christmas tree the entire festive season, but birds were for Christmas only!

But that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. I'm a big fan of almost anything cute and cuddly, and with so many fine little birds out there, why not enjoy bird decorations all year round?

Bird decorations add a nice atmosphere to the home, and are a simple way to spice up a room or garden. I have compiled a few ideas here on this lens as you can see, and hope you'll enjoy indoor and outdoor bird life too. Good luck decorating!

Please feel free to add comments, I appreciate it!

Some nice bird decorations here. We have a pair of cranes made in Zimbabwe in our NZ garden.
