Ms. Venegas experiments with Mexican foods under the watchful critiques of her husband. The recipes need to pass a "when I was a kid" test.

How to Clean Those Shiny Kitchen Surfaces

I have bought plenty of cleaners for our brushed stainless steel appliances, and this subject is a sore topic for this home owner.

My advice is do not buy any of the cleaners that have pop up wipes. I didn't find any brand that was not streak proof. The main problem with this task is getting a streak free look.

I found using this oily based cleaner is the best way to tackle your shiny steel surfaces. I chanced on a green product my husband brought home from a weekly swap meet he browses for exercise. He knew how this one kitchen task was a problem and he likes to add to the variety of products we have not used up. Is there room for one more product under the sink?

He brought me SoyGreen Stainless Steel Cleaner, a natural grown made in U.S.A. product.

Soy Green Cleaner - Degreaser and Polish Review

Put a small amount of SoyGreen on one folded over corner of a large paper towel. Go over the whole appliance rubbing out problem spots and wiping the whole surface at least once with your cleaner applied corner of paper towel. Use a little extra cleaner where needed. The thumbnail does wonders on the little stubborn spots.

Let the product set for a minute then polish the appliance with the remaining dry part of your paper towel, working into the direction of the grain.

Eco Distribution Group is the manufacturers parent name.

Where to Buy SoyGreen

Green Certified by U. S. EPA

You know how Swap Meet buys are. Here today gone tomorrow. After using the product I looked for it on the Internet. All my regular shopping places except Amazon.com did not carry it. I found two places to buy it. At Amazon above or the manufacture's website.

The manufacturer is Eco Distribution Group a company with Green Certification from the EPA.

Their cleaners are offered here. Also find green cleaning information and eco-friendly business practices and how to tell myth from the real on the Internet. I am very impressed on their green manufacturing.

They make other cleaners mainly for industrial use, but I was impressed with their salon product, a remover of fingernail polish. Imagine not smelling acetone in the nail salon and the product is good for your nails.

Their cleaners and products are manufactured with care to the environment, subsequently less footprint all around. This product is a non-cardinogen.

Besides being good at the task, the environment is another reason to use SoyGreen.

How to Clean With SoyGreen

This is our cooktop hood that gets use everyday since we do lots of in home cooking.

This is a photo of it before cleaning with my new bottle of SoyGreen.

It actually is dirtier than the image can capture.

After some attention I get a lovely shine with my found product. I took the screen off and did the inside too. It looks like it is new from the box.

I was so excited I went on and cleaned all the stainless steel appliances in the house, including the toaster, dishwasher, oven/microwave combo, and toaster oven. I was voicing all my satisfactions to my husband and he promptly did his barbecue.

I had no gloves on, there is no noticeable smell and when finished I washed my hands with warm water and hand soap. The fingers and the palms of my hands felt clean and smooth with no irritation at all.

One last tip: about a week after an application of SoyGreen go over the same appliances again with just a clean paper towel. There is enough product on the surfaces to give them another shine. Easy as pie.

The barbecue is sparkling, my husband did a good job on it.

I am telling everyone about this find because sometimes a household can spent extra dollars on products that will not do the job. Our laundry home cabinet is loaded with cleaners that will end up doing average jobs my daily cleaner can do. Hope this is of some help.

I like the idea of a green cleaner. I really should use more of these.

      @Ramkitten2000: Ramkitten,

Look into the induction cooking too. My daughter and I have no complaints at all with our five burner stovetop induction. The control of the heat to the pan is very good, and no extra heat in the summer.

I like these types of green cleaning products because it is safer for our health and the environment, I was surprised to learn how many harmful chemicals are inside most traditional cleaning products.

We're currently in the design phase of new house and already looking at appliances. We're definitely leaning towards stainless steel for the kitchen, so this is good information for us. Thanks for the product review and tips.

@Titia: No stainless steel in the lamb barn: feeders, grain scoops or utility tables?

Lucky for me I don't have stainless steel anywhere in or out the house. My kitchen counter is made with floor tiles. But...for those who have stainless steel, it's a good informative article.
