Repairing each part

Heating assembly

Your heating assembly mainly consists of four parts; heater, switch for pressure and other heating components. If you detect any kind of leakage in these hottub parts you have to replace them instantly. Hot tub valves are generally the most common leaking source. In some hot tubs the valves are installed on both sides of pump so you don't need to stop the water during repair. Theoretically, this concept looks good but practically it is not helpful and can be a mere headache.

Pump leakage

You should start your leakage detection process from the pump. Commonly, pump seal is the main cause of leakage. After checking the pump carefully you have to decide whether a new seal is needed or you need to replace the whole pump. Pump replacement is not an easy and costs heavily.

Union fittings

You must carefully look union fittings near the heater and pump. Water can leak through these union fittings even in the new hot tubs. The reason is; vibrations during the shipment process. Avoid the use of wrench to tighten the union fittings in hottub. You can simply use your hands to tighten the union fittings. If needed you have to remove and realign them for the proper fitting.

Jet body and other connections

If you are unable to detect any leakage by checking all the above parts, you should move on to check jets and other connections. Bad gasket in the body of jet is probably the main reason why you may need to repair jet. Secondly, the water jet sometimes works overtime that results in leakage and needs a quick replacement. You may need to tighten the hottub connections. You can use Fix-A-Leak to repair the jet connections. Fix a leak is a concentrated material specially blended to seal leaks. You can use it in your jet connections, shells and other plumbing needs. Using the fix a leak option will save your time and headache of finding leak in hot tubs. If you don't want to go with this option, you can follow the steps mentioned below.

Steps

1. First of all, you need to determine the loss of water in 24 hours.

2. Refill the water in hottub to its original level and mark it

3. Carefully remove the filter and cartridge

4. Add a fix a leak solution to the water

5. Observe for 6 to 8 hours and check the water level

6. If there is no change in the marked level then consider that the leak is stopped

7. Don’t use a hot tub for couple of days, after that you can resume.

Following these steps will make sure the long life of your hottub. Use hottub cover and other chemicals for regular cleaning and maintenance. As hot tubs are prized possession, you should learn to look after it.
