Decorating with Recycled throw aways
Home decorating crafts using Recycled materials
The theme of this lens is Reduce! Reuse! Recycle... and while doing that lets create some amazing decor for our homes!!! Here I gather a variety of decorating ideas that were created using recycled or reclaimed materials. Some were made by me, others by friends and family members and few by other creative minds that some way or another crossed my path. The objective of this page is not only gather some the great projects that I dove or would like to dive into, but also inspire YOU to do the same.
So to start in this picture I feature my FUN ALWAYS ALIVE Fabric flowers. These I made out of scrap fabric that my aunt gave me from old tablecloths. I found this dried long flowers and combined the two into a beautiful bouquet. Once I made about 150 of them... I placed them as a group on a glass vase and created a great accent piece for my red sofa side table.

In my opinion this headboard idea is truly fantastic. All you need is a bucket of chalk paint, brushes, chalk and some creative skills. In addition to being fun this headboard idea is super easy to change and you can not only draw the headboard in many different styles but you can also change colors, giving the room a lot of flexibility. This is a fun option for a young artist looking to have a fun and inspiring room.
Creative Side Table / Magazine or Book Shelf
Transform a large wood coil into a fun side table / magazine or book shelf. This piece was feature in the Geiko Stickers facebook page and it is meant to be shared and appreciate it. A great way to get a hold of this coils is to call industrial warehouses that supply fabric, or cables and they will be happy to give you a few of those as they often just toss them in the trash. I am sure they will be happy to see the end result!
Tire Chairs or Bench
A great way to re-use tires that can otherwise only be disposed is to create chairs and benches out of it. You can create wood feet or place wheels to make it more fun or if you would like and want to make it even simpler you can just stack 2 or 3 tires, nail them together, and then attach an top to covered top to create a seat. To make it even more fun, pick a nice fabric, add some cushioning to the seat and make sure to paint the tires with a fun color that matches the fabric you pick. Great for outside furniture, it is always a great idea to pick a sturdy fabric that can resist the weather.
Utensils Key holders
Make it yourself keyholders. This fun idea was created by using a wood block and some old forks, and spoons. here we showcased a picture of 3 individual key holders showcased by the artist Fern from crafterholic.blogspot.com. You can also create rectagunlar versions that incoorporate more than one hook and you can always be creative with the wood blocks as well and paint a pattern or cover it with paper or fabric that you like. After decorating the wood block you simply bend the utensil in a hook shape, drill a role and then screw the two together! This project is simply a great idea to reuse some of the materials that you might have left over at home.
Each person creates about 4.7 pounds of waste every single day. It is truly important that we work on reducing this statistics.
Add Style to an Old Chair
A great way to embellish an old and retired chair that has no seating cushion is to create a seating platform using fabric. You can use any type of left over fabric that you have at home, as long as the fabric is sturdy enough. Just cut the fabric into stripes and then tie the stripes into the chair creating a basket weave design which will make the seating cushion very sturdy. Make sure that you use lots of fabric in order to allow the seat to hold the weight of a person and with little effort you will have a brand new recycled chair that will add a lot of style to your house. You can use a variety of colors or go with a solid look, in addition you can trim the edges for a more classic feel or if you would like you can leave the irregular edges for a more young and modern feel.
