De'Longhi Electric Kettle is a Smart Addition to Any Kitchen

Updated on December 9, 2013

I have to say I was getting fed up with my electric jugs / kettles leaking at the base. I'd had two kettles in as many years. The last straw was when one weekend I came into the kitchen to find the bench covered in a pool of water!

Off to the appliance store....and I fell in love with the style of the De'Longhi Electric Kettle. It was a bit more pricey than what I'd been paying...perhaps the moral of the story is you get what you pay for!

I've since seen my kettle featuring in the displays of the Australian Masterchef program...and wow they do look lovely.

Why would this kettle be any different, you ask?

For a start I think the brand is fabulous and of quality. De'Longhi know about style. That's what I fell in love with first! Mine is in red but this kettle is so popular in red there was only one in stock when I looked. No use getting you excited about a red kettle when you might not be able to get it!

I've had my kettle going for two years now and still works beautifully, It's a definitely a smart item in my kitchen.

Pros:

Speed of boiling, an automatic switch than turns the kettle off when it boils, a removable scale filter for cleaning and above all the look!

Cons:

There is a water measure under the handle (minimum, maximum and water level). Unfortunately as a baby boomer I can't see where the water level is and being under the handle is awkward. I've overcome this by feel. Yes, I get a good idea of the level when I pick it up.

I've got no hesitation in recommending the De'Longhi Electric Kettle! Did you get the idea that I'm sold on it?

In case you really, really want the beautiful red kettle! I hope it's there for you when you try! I'm sure Amazon will restock.

Thank you for this recommendation! Not all kettles are created equal, and being a fan of tea, I need a good one! I like the red, and all that you shared about it. It takes me back to my college years as well, where I had a small pot in the dorm room to heat up water for coffee or tea. This would make a nice gift for someone too, I am thinking.
