Electric Cooktop Reviews 2013

When trying to choose a new electric cooktop for your kitchen a good way to help you make a decision on which one to buy is to read electric cooktop reviews. In fact, I always suggest that no matter which type of product you are thinking about purchasing you should always read reviews to find out which are the best. By reading what real customers have to say you can find out how well any product compares to others.

When it comes to electric cooktop reviews you can easily go online to websites such as Amazon.com or BestBuy.com and find reviews from customers who have actually purchased the product.

If you haven't decided whether you want a gas cooktop or an electric cooktop and are just trying to find information on each then let me give you a comparison of the benefits and downsides that both have. When it comes to a gas cooktop you will find that they are easier to control the heat, less expensive to operate and produce more even stove top heat for more even cooking. On the other hand they are more expensive to purchase and have installed, especially if you do not have a gas line in your kitchen already. Additionally there are some safety issues such as having an open flame and the potential for gas leaks.

When it comes to electric cooktops you will find that they are less expensive to purchase and install, easier to clean the burners and surfaces and they instantly turn on and off where as a gas cooktop may not always light right away. The downsides are few, if your power goes out you won't be able to use your cooktop and you can not control the heat as easily or accurately.

If you have your mind made up and know that you want an electric cooktop then the only thing to do is to determine which would be the best electric cooktop for you and your kitchen. As mentioned, reading electric cooktop reviews is a great way to help you make a decision. Before we get in to helping you make a decision I want to talk a little about the different types of electric cooktops you can find today.

First of all you will have a choice between a cooktop that has the standard coil burners with a drip pan underneath, a smoothtop electric cooktop that uses radiant heating elements or an induction cooktop. The coil burner cooktop is the type of cooktop that you most likely grew up with. The great thing about this style is that the coil burners and drip pans can easily be replaced. The downside is that the coils don't always offer the most level cooking surface.

With a smoothtop electric cooktop you don't have to worry about having coils getting bent out of shape and providing an uneven surface and they tend to be easier to clean as they provide a completely flat surface that can be wiped down. However both types of cooktops use electricity to heat up and they heat and cool slowly which means you have less control over the heat.

An induction cooktop work by actually heating the cooking vessel (pots or pans) instead of heating the area that the vessel sits on. This is accomplished by an electromagnet that transfers its energy into heat as a conductive metal is placed on the cooktop. This has the benefit of cooking more efficiently as well as being more safe as the cooktop will only heat up where the vessel is sitting. The downside to this type of cooktop is that you must use a ferrous material such as cast iron or stainless steel to cook with.

Now that you know a little bit more about the different types of cooktops let try and help you determine which would be the best electric cooktop for you. To do this I have read through a lot of electric cooktop reviews and have provided a selection of what many people feel are the best cooktops you will find today.
