An Emma Ball Calendar to Brighten Your Wall

Updated on June 29, 2014

Emma Ball Art is Everywhere

I first came across the art of Emma Ball on a visit to Cornwall, in England. Cornwall is a beautiful county, down in the West Country, the extreme South West of England, which has the mildest climate in the UK. It is known for wild and rocky coastlines, unspoiled sandy beaches, small towns with winding roads and interesting shops, and for boats and seagulls. And it is the home of the endangered bird, symbol of Cornwall, the chough, which I was once lucky enough to see.

Here's the page for January from Emma's 2014 Cornwall calendar, hanging in pride of place on my kitchen wall. I love the colours of Emma's work and the way she portrays the seagulls and boats of the Cornish coast in the west of England. As well as St Michael's Mount, which I've visited, this calendar features other beauty spots in the county.

Emma's art turns up on all kinds of objects. This article is a small introduction to her art, as I could not resist showing you some more. You can also read more in my article here.

Emma Ball Calendar 2015

The US Amazon site has only one 2015 calendar. The UK site has her Coastal Calendar for 2015 and lots of other Emma goodies.

Colour is a huge feature of Emma's work and she manages to get almost a stained glass effect which is really wonderful and cheers you up on grey winter's day.

Book Illustration

Emma has illustrated several children's books.

Albert and the Slipper Limpets

There's no description on, but the UK site says "Albert is a Seagull, who likes an adventure and is a little vain. He decides to go on a hunt for a pair of slippers after seeing people coming out of the local shoe shop!!" As slipper limpits are a kind of shell fish, it sounds as if Albert gets his wires crossed.

Emma has illustrated a number of books by this writer. Here is one in the 'Sandies' series, set at a seaside holiday destination.

Other Emma Ball Items

You should be able to get teatowels and notecards on eBay and possibly tins as well. I've bought some that are sold just as decorative storage tins - I've used them to place a small present inside when giving at Christmas - and also some are containers for biscuits (cookies), such as my snowman tin. I confess I bought that for the tin, not the biscuits!

UK Readers - Please Read

I'm sorry I haven't been able to master how to get links to Amazon UK into this lens. It's something I'm working on for my future projects. In the meantime, here's a link to a search on Emma's items that will show you loads of products, from candles to - of course - her UK 2015 calendars.

Emma Ball's Own Site

Emma does sell outside the UK and gives guidance on her website on how to obtain anything available.

What adorable, colorful artwork! I love her style. Like you, I buy the tins for the tin, not the ... cookies, or whatever's in there.
