Exercise Ball Chairs

Updated on September 22, 2014

Are you spending long hours sitting in a chair?

If you do, you may experience aching back / legs / arms syndrome which is a common symptom of sitting still in a chair for a long time.

And if your chair is not comfortable, you may also feel stiff neck and back pain. Most chiropractors recommend people to do a simple exercise every hour for few minutes, but many people are too busy to exercise.

Now, there is a solution of using an exercise ball as your chair.

Exercise ball? You must be laughing at the moment. How could it be used as a chair? It's wobbly and you'll fall down in just one second of sitting on this ball.

This is a video which shows the difference between the normal office chair and the exercise ball:

The Traditional Office Chair -v- Exercise Ball - Which one is better?

Now, I believe you get the idea of using the exercise ball as a chair.

However, you may be thinking it's not a perfect solution. The ball will need to be supported with a chair / frame to prevent it moving around on the floor.

Thankfully, there are few companies which have created balance exercise ball chair and these chairs can support up to 300 pounds. The price starts from $70 and the exercise ball is included.

Note: I must advise you that you will need to get used to sitting in a ball chair. You may feel slight discomfort when you first use it, which is very normal. I recommend you to try it out at home first before you use it for a long hour at work.
